NSAC is letting boxers fight with brain aneurysms or Tony Weeks is fixing fights. Not a good look for boxing either way.

There is no one willing to say "Tony Weeks is a great referee, absolutely no way he fixed the fight so the claim must be true" nor "NSAC is a strict, clean organization who always abides by the rule so Weeks is definitely lying".Bronx2245 likes this.

Tony Weeks looked embarressed after the fight & I must say his decision actually made Howard Foster Jnr look good!

Someone will need to do some proper investigative journalism to get to the bottom of this, starting with the basics.
First off, did Weeks actually post this on his Facebook account?
“What the public didn’t know that prior to the fight they did a brain scan on him,” Weeks said in a now-deleted Facebook post. “[I]t came up that he had an aneurysm, and they did a test again and the same aneurysm came up. Another doctor was brought in and gave him the same examination and he tested negative for the aneurysm, so they cleared him to fight.”
If it is, GB's response is not a flat denial and only seems to align with Weeks' final sentence without addressing the substance of the allegation.
“Fredrick Lawson was cleared by a Nevada State Athletic Commission sanctioned doctor to fight on Saturday night,” Golden Boy said in a distributed two-sentence press release. “All other questions should be referred to NSAC [Nevada State Athletic Commission].”

Sad for boxing today. Difficult to understand, a fighter is given two brain scans and fails them. They call for another doctor and this doctor passes the fighter, allowing him to fight. To make the situation worst, Ortiz is favorite to win 50 to 1 ???? There needs to be an criminal investigation into this fight overall. Also, Weeks should be suspended, due to this fight and all the other fights he has made questionable stoppages. Again, boxing keeps shooting itself in the foot.

That explanation is just a bunch of B.S. Weeks is just an unfit and incompetent referee who blew the call that’s all.Last edited by champion4ever; 01-08-2024, 05:35 AM.

Tony Weeks is essentially saying that he went into the fight with a preconceived view, prejudiced stance against Lawson.
He basically says that he knew he would stop the fight at the slightest hint of Lawson being hurt. That's not good at all.
Tony was involved in refereeing some good and great fights. He stopped the first Castillo-Corrales war, and few complained of that stoppage.
But he's been in bad form lately, to put it mildly. He needs to be better, if continuing that job.

WOW!!! An Aneurysm??? C'mon GBP! That's foul! Tony Weeks has to get out the game! I totally understand his concerns for the health of the fighter, but it's part of the game, so obviously Tony needs to get out of the game! Vergil needs a real test now! Jesus Ramos, Terrell Gausha, or Austin Trout!
