Zhang is a great old southpaw. I am impressed with this guy. he only lost very close fights with Hrgovic in Parker.

I have no problem with him fighting Joshua next, but I think Joshua will fight Dubois.

From my understanding the avg Chinese citizen is doing better now than when Zou was active. There is also an emerging middle class thats still growing likely leading to more ppl with disposable income. But those same venues that Zou was at haven't really been in business post Zou. So that's probably not a good sign.

Sh^t according to boxrec China as a whole only had 28 fight cards last year. Chinese ppl watching boxing might be like when a regular ass person pays attention to the Olympics here. Lotsa mfers will watch it if its on for free, but if you put any paywall up to view they won't give enough fooks about it to pass that paywall.
China's GDP and household disposable income has increased significantly (40-50% more) since Zou shiming so the potential is arguably far greater now than it was.

Now it translating to PPV is another thing as you've pointed out but UFC has done well with Guan Wang, Jingliang Li, and Lipeng Zhang and others.

It's also translated to buys and investment from the UFC and the Chinese Olympic Committee, which bodes well for China getting rid of it's ret@rded and backwards stance on "kung fu" being "the true martial arts" and situations like Xu Xiaodong having his social credit ruined for disrespecting their "kung fu".

Don't see why the same couldn't happen with boxing now there isn't as many talented chinese boxers BUT that could easily change with the right push and a big enough name like Zhang beating a Fury, AJ or Usyk or even fighting them for that matter...

Emperors historically don't do well in China. A homecoming fit for a magnificent comrade.

CCP needs to allow promotions, advocate & be satisfied with an aging Zhang before he progresses a nationalist fan base in China. Will They??
