So many old-timers had been passed by over the years due to a lack of knowledge of modern-day voters. Therefore, the current regime formed an Old-Timers Committee (such as baseball's Veterans Committee) to give those who had been passed over their due. Men like manager/matchmaker Jack Puggy, promoter Jules Aronson, promoter Bobby Gunnis, writers Jack Fried and Bob Wright, and ring announcer Pete Byron had been ignored far too long. These men helped make Philly the great fight town it once was. Still, there are more such as promoter Lou Lucchese and writer Gene Courtney who are more-than-deserving. Had the former leaders of the PA Boxing Hall of Fame not concentrated only on boxers, those men would have been inducted many, many years ago. Credit goes to John DiSanto and Monte Farley of the PA Hall of Fame for correcting those errors and bringing the Hall up to date.
