Lightweights Jonny Mansour and Christian Avalos came in under the lightweight limit ahead of “Championing Mental Health: A Night of Boxing,” which will take place Thursday at the Avalon in Hollywood, California.
The undefeated Mansour tipped the scales at 133.8lbs, while Avalos, of Carson City, Nevada, came in at 134.4lbs.
Mansour, 4-0 (2 KOs), a 24-year-old from La Mesa, California, turned pro after a decorated amateur career in USA Boxing. He has dedicated this fight to his mother, who is battling a serious illness. Avalos, 3-2-2, also 24, saw a three-fight win streak snapped with a loss to Ebert Diaz last year.
Featherweight Vic Pasillas came in below the featherweight limit at 125.4lbs, while Carlos Jackson was a pound lighter at 124.4lbs.
Pasillas, 17-1 (10 KOs), a 33-year-old who is originally from Los Angeles but now fights out of Redwood City, California, has been ecstatic the entire fight week. He last fought 14 months ago, getting a second-round knockout over Jorge Villegas. Pasillas believes that big things await him in the future if he gets a win.
Jackson, 20-2 (13 KOs), was knocked out by Ryan “Stone” Allen in his previous fight. Jackson, a 36-year-old from Atlanta, was on a four-fight win streak before the loss.
The card will stream on DAZN.
