The January 17 show featuring featherweight prospect Omar Trinidad vs. Mike Plania will go forward in Commerce, California, which is just south of Los Angeles but is not near any of the active wildfires currently affecting the region.

The show’s promoter, Tom Loeffler of 360 Promotions, confirmed to BoxingScene that the event remains set for The Commerce Casino & Hotel.

So far, the fires have killed at least 24 people, displaced countless others, and destroyed tens of thousands of acres of forest and more than 12,000 structures, and the .

Commerce, California, is in southeast Los Angeles County. The active wildfires are located in the western, northern and northeastern sections of the city and nearby communities.

Other sporting events in other parts of the city have been canceled or relocated. Tonight’s NFL playoff game between the Los Angeles Rams and the Minnesota Vikings was moved from Inglewood, California, to Arizona. L.A.’s NBA and NHL teams postponed a few games last week, although the Los Angeles Clippers are scheduled to play tonight at home.
