The latest garbling from Tyson Fury suggests he has a third fight with Oleksandr Usyk scheduled for Wembley Stadium on April 18, 2026. This ‘announcement’, made on social media, comes one day after he told reporters at an IBA promotional event in Turkey that, one, he wasn’t coming back, and two, that he was.
BoxingScene, via a source close to Fury’s team, can confirm that there is no agreement in place for a third contest with Usyk and no official talks on the matter have taken place. Furthermore, BoxingScene understands that Wembley Stadium is currently unavailable on April 18 next year.
Fury, 34-2-1 (24 KOs) and 36 years old, declared he would not fight again following his second successive points loss to Usyk last December. However, given his history of coming back from ‘retirement’ alongside his considerable bargaining power, it has long been assumed that it’s only a matter of time before he returns to the ring.
Fury, whose attention has been courted by IBA president Umar Kremlev, has certainly had his ears pricked by the organization’s plans to take over the professional boxing world and this latest tease would appear little more than an effort to entice the highest bidder.
Usyk, meanwhile, is eight days out from a rematch with Daniel Dubois. The Ukrainian’s focus is purely on the task at hand.
