Ranking Vitalis power amongst the ATGs

With the greatest of respect for Briggs bravery tonights fight must put Vitalis power into perspective.

I see a lot of people creaming over his KO % but let's get it straight. He doesnt figure in the shake up in terms of power.

Can't recall the last time I saw a modern heavy take so many flush shots without goin over.

Hard to beat, awkwardly effective, durable and game but not the puncher some would have you believe.

In the post fight interview Briggs said he felt that Vitali's shots were harder than Lewis's or Foreman's. I very much have my doubts about this, but there were some sickening right hands, he did look good.

Is it just me or did his right hand actually seem to carry a fair bit of handspeed too?

I was fairly impressed with Klitschko tonight. Briggs was disappointing in every way except heart and chin.

I think there are quite a few all time who hit harder with one shot. But Vitali is no doubt good at knocking out boxer's. His Ko% shows this to be true. He is big and strong plus throws many punches and they all are hard.

Fighters say some odd things post fight.

I do rate Vit but suspect he's flattered by the fighters and lack of ambition that seems so apparent in his challengers. Didnt think his hands looked quicker than norm but his conditioning is exceptional for his age and size.

Pleased to see Shannon get a pay day, not so thrilled about the prolonged beating he took.

Think he may have gotten hit so hard against Lewis that he doesn't remember how hard he got hit:

          4:00

Vitali has never been much of a one punch knockout artist in my opinion. The majority of his significant stoppages are late round batterings after an accumulation of punishment.

Yea, I remember the Lewis fight back in the day when Shannon Briggs threw punches. That Shannon Brigg might have given Vitali a few things to think about.

But granted Lewis did hit him hard, those knockdowns were brutal.

              Vitali is not a puncher

for his size and weight, he is very average

Briggs had to find something nice to say about Vitali after talking so much **** just to get battered in the end

                This

Besides wasn't Wlad supposed to be the puncher of the two? Funny how he has just been thrown out of the picture since Vitali returned...But no way either one hits as hard as Lewis even...Remember that James Tillis said Tyson hit harder than Earnie Shavers(Ridiculous) in the interview after the Tyson fight, but later when the wounds had healed said that Shavers was easily the harder hitter...and the "tougher"...Briggs is still feeling Vitali's punch by mere hours, give him a week and hear what he says...Vitali is average at best....

you can definitely find harder hitting heavy weights based on 1 punch but as far as able to throw several hard shots over the course of 12 rounds vitali is easily top 5.that guy nay not have 1 punch power but he seriously rearanges guys faces.both peter and briggs faces looked gross

as far as 1 punch power though you also have to take into account the size of these guys.but i would put the following ahead of him.i wouldnt put guys like louis and shavers because im not convinced they could consitently k.o bigger fighters
                  lewis
                  tyson
                  ibeabuchi
                  foreman
                  mercer

Shavers KOed 230lbs 6 5 Roy Williams...who unlike almost all of the boxers today, was not a fatass O.o Since when did bigger mean better? It usually means worse...Both Lewis and Wlad had "Poor" chins...Have you seen the videos of Ali, Lyle, and Tillis stating that Shavers was the hardest puncher they ever faced? Joe Louis KOed Abe Simons, find me ONE boxer that is bigger than Simon....that guy was a tank and his head was as big as louis....

Vitali rearanges faces because he hits his opponent right on the spot for 12 rounds, mainly because not one of these pretenders has any defense or movement at all....Earnie Shavers broke fighters necks, George Foreman blew out facial bones and crushed ribs, Rocky Marciano broke arms, Kostya Tszyu was a welter who broke shoulders, Joe Louis and David Tua cracked Vertebrae with body punches, Mike Tyson knocked out rows of teeth with his jabs, Little Jack Dempsey mauled people like a wild animal...Not to mention that Jess Willard was 6 6 260lbs....The supply of devastating punchers is tremendous in heavyweight history, more than most people can even remember, and Vitali is not even top 100 hardest hitter...He is average power with above average skill.

Wlad isn't top 50 hardest hitter either, watch him hit the heavybag, now watch Jeff Lacy do it...notice the difference...Jeff was a middleweight...
