Eder Jofre is another, he was a vegetarian as well.
Competed at a high level until 40 when he retired.

Nicolino Locche and Carlos Monzon didn't exactly have a healthy lifestyle, chain smoking and going out partying every night but they still managed to compete at a high level until they retired at relatively old ages of 37 and 35.
Must be something in the Argentinian water.

True but in boxing one bad beating can take away years off your career even if you're healthy.

I've basically claimed the same (http://jeetwin188.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=414935) and I can't believe the people in boxing haven't already made a correlation. Are they really that incompetent to not realize and advise boxers to take care of themselves if they want to have a long, productive career and be less suscptible to long term injuries....

              Perhaps not the cleanest.

Roberto Duran would be the exception to this thread.

I would imagine people realize this it's just difficult for people to actually do. I mean, who here doesn't like to have the occasional drink or smoke or whatever? And we are just average joes. I could only imagine the temptation of living a life of a sports athlete/celebrity... to turn down sex, drugs, alcohol, one must be extremely disciplined. It's easier said than done, imo.
