      in this era it should be really easy to establish the walk around weight of hydrated fighters over a period of time. Then you can't fight at any less than 10lbs below your mean average walk around weight [M.A.W.A.W] at day before weigh-in. Then at next day weigh in you can't weigh in any more than your MAWAW.
      Examples
      Fighter A has a MAWAW of 152lbs - he can fight at 147 or above - but not at 140. The day before fight he makes weight easily at 147 and next day has to weigh 152 or less
      Fighter B has a MAWAW of 157lbs - he can fight at 147 or above - but not at 140. The day before fight he makes weight at 147 but without resorting to drastic dehydrating methods like many of today's fighterssat 147 and next day has to weigh 157 or less

      Day of fight there is a minimum weight difference of 5lbs in the ring.

      when Haney fought Lomachenko there was likely a 20lb difference in the ring and possibly 25lbs

        yeah that was really pathetic. Loma belonged at 130 and Haney belonged at 140. Then it was a razor close fight. That is when I knew haney was overhyped. I dont even care who people had winning on their score card. ok so what if you even had haney win by a round, the guy is two divisions smaller than him on fight night. they shouldnt even be fighting

          Thing is I dont imagine Paulie having particularly bad weight cuts, he is saying just a few pounds final night which is nothing compared to some of these guys who have like 10 pounds to go in the last night.

          Him talking about not being able to drink all night and then cant sleep I can imagine that. Your electrolytes are all out of wack which also probably caused the sleep problems.

          Ive done some mild weight cuts and they were very miserable, i cant imagine what the elite level is like, those guys can barely walk usually

              pretty sure its just a typo and they meant dehydration. the article is pretty poorly written. if hes waiting last minute to dehydrate obviously he thinks being hydrated is important. and the 2.5 weeks is probably the process in its entirety leading up to weigh in not being dehydrated slowly. they start doing salt manipulation like a week out. the week before that is probably more to do with food restrictions.

                “People will tell you [cutting weight is] not healthy. … It's also not healthy to go in with guys who are too big for you in the ring and then get your brain beaten by guys who show up 20 pounds heavier than you the next night,” Malignaggi said. “Pick your poison.

                Is a very good point but if you train hard & healthily to a weight that is good for you & you fight a monster who you know is 20ib bigger than you & has dehydrated himself to the limit, you should know that if you can get through the first 6 rounds he is gonna be in hell, in a terrible condition.

                  I mean, I know this is exceptional but the absolutely best boxers don't cut & they do fight much bigger men. Look at Duran, SRL, Pernell, Loma, Mayweather. They fight men who are huge compared to them because they have the skills to do that. Even more incredible Usyk fights much bigger men who aren't even struggling to cut weight!
