I don't see why Canelo has to cave to anything. Their common PPV opponent, Floyd, goes in favor of Canelo. Canelo did 350,000 fighting an unkown guy in Lara in July while Cotto could barely muster that against the middle weight champion in Martinez who had been on PPV before. Cotto is a good fighter but he is not some huge PPV star. Outside of Margacheato he has usually been the B side.
Sure, let him weigh in second, walk out last, pick the ring and gloves..whatever.
But Canelo will be just as big a reason, if not bigger, that this fight happens in May and does good numbers if they can pull it off.

Cotto is milking his paper title for all it's worth.

Yall do know Cotto can go fight Floyd if he wants right? Who's Canelo gonna go fight? Canelo better be careful before he loses his opponent and his date.
cotto fans keep mentioning floyd , when neither showtime or floyd have ever mentioned cotto's name, all there was a rumor from an unknown source about haymon.. but yet people seem to ignore both statements from oscar dela hoya and penagaricano where both acknowledged that cotto has a network contract with hbo...

That's only first impression. Lest not forget that cotto waived 10 mil to fight Canelo to fight a seemingly more dangerous (at the time) fighter for a consiiderable less amount of money in Martinez. I think glory is first and money a very close second for cotto. If offered a mayweather fight I strongly suspect cotto takes it and Canelo along with cottos 10+ mill payday will wait to Septemberish.

True but it would be u fathomable for showtime not to have brought cotto up. Shotime needs the money. Who else except pac generate a lot of income for Floyd. I mean way over a million ppv buys. So I'm certain it has came up. No CEO of a major corporation will let a 16 million loss go without an attempted remedy. May has two fights left with sho. If sho is not pushing cotto and pac for those then the sho is outstandingly incompetent. NOT!

showtime wants the pac fight, but it will be a co production along with hbo, honestly i dont think they will be interested in sharing a floyd-cotto rematch with hbo, half the money from that fight wont cover floyds guarantee alone...

Excuse Me who is Canelo alvarez to demand a 50/50 split and a 155 pounds catchweight?hahahahaha he is not the champion and he don't have a decent boxing resume, the only one he fought is floyd mayweather.. canelo is not an elite fighter yet to demand things he is just a boy with an inflated record hahahahahaha

                  What a ****ing joke.

If the Jr Middles want to fight for the MW title, why cant they actually move up to 160???
Cotto's side suggested the 155 catchweight, try harder next time bro.

I'm not sure that hbo would be involved. They say there's a contract but nine if seen it not read it. I suspect there is a clause stating that if cotto needs to be free he is free. That is if he needs to fight Floyd then he can do so.

I know. All those terrible title defenses since winning the crown.

Cotto is negotiating a pretty tough first defense so it doesn't seem to me like he's trying to milk the title at all. He's earned his spot and rightfully has a voice during negotiation. That's not milking.
