How do you hit the body when someone is blocking?

Ok so i was messing around with my frirnd with some boxing gloves and he agreed to let me hit him in the body only and he will try to block it.

I started throwing some jabs and straights and some hooks at his body with alot of strength...but it was REALLY hard to hit him clean. even when i feinted shots and set up hooks or straights with some tricky jabs and striaghts i only managed to hit him clean about 5 times out of 30 punches.... lol...

Why is it so hard to connect i mainly hit his elboys and wrists but he has big hands and is about 30 -40 pounds heavier than me and taller.

Only advice I can give, throw hooks right behind the elbows which should land clean into the ribs of he is turtling up. You need to practise your accuracy with it, but once you've learnt to hit him right behind the elbows you don't forget it.

Also worth mentioning that Rocky Marciano was a "messy" puncher, being highly inaccurate, it was recorded that he would just hit people in there arms so hard that the blood vessels in there arms would burst

It's obviously gonna be a lot harder to land when the guy knows you're going to the body ONLY and therefore knows what to expect. There's a few things I do when I'm in situations like this though:

Usually what i do is use angles. Try to pivot around him so that the punches you throw can hit parts of his body not covered by his elbows.

Another thing I like to do is check for patterns. Anytime someone throws a punch they expose themselves, so what I'll do is peep the combos they like to throw and go for the spots I expect to get exposed as they throw. You just gotta make sure your defense is tight because you can take punches doing this.

A third thing I like to do is use different combos and switch it up. Sometimes i'll double up on the same spot, especially when it looks like the guy is expecting me to throw a left and follow it with a right. so sometimes i'll go with two lefts and the 2nd one usually will catch him.

Yea the only times i rarely landed was by throwing a jab then quickly throwing a hook to his ribs wich maybe connected twice. Idk if its because hes bigger than me and has really big arms and long elbows but it was pretty hard to land clean without hitting him on the arms . I had to throw him off if you know what i mean by punching in one place then wuickly punching another place,,,,i really didnt think it would be that hard to connect i only landed like 5 shots

Yea i guess it was really hard mainly because he knew body shots where coming lmao....but the third part you explained by doubling up and switching up combos is when i managed to land because he was thrown off

Uppercuts and straight punches open up the body to hooks and hooks open the body up to uppercuts and straight punches, mix it up and throw some combos that are going too force him to give you an opening.

Like a poster above said using angles really helps. Throwing a hook around his arms and hitting the ribs is good and if you pivot around you can protect a whole side while hitting him. For example I'm a southpaw so if I pivot around his lead foot I can get close and throw hook from both angles while minimising the area he can hit me.
