my all-time favorite is GTA 3..... the best GTA ever.. for me...

then goes- vice city, san andreas, 4

Vice City.

Captured the 80s vibe perfectly. Great soundtrack, brilliant story, bright characters, tidy map with nice locations, varied missions, helicopters, mansions, condos, businesses to buy. It was awesome.

see with me its between 3 and vice city... both are amazing... i went with 3 though, cause it is the first game that got me into video games... and i always liked the character for 3 better, Claude, (the mute mother****er..lol... he was badass) tommy vercetti was sweet to

i really didn't like san andreas, i just wasn't into the whole "gangsta, hood stuff" i thought the 80s miami drug trades (vice city) were cooler, and interested me more..

and GTA 4 just ******.... it was to realistic... for my tastes...

realism and gta do not go togeather

San Andreas for me, you could take your guy to the gym and turn him into a tank, give him tattoos different haircuts, great story and soundtrack.

San Andreas here also. It was almost perfect. The surroundings made for a lot of diversity, the story was great and somehow the *rags to riches* story was very plausible in the end.

Vice City.

I wasn't that keen on San Andreas. I also remember there was at least one mission where you had to make your car lift-up in time to a beat by pressing X or O or whatever when it was displayed on the screen. It just seemed really gay to me, like Parappa The Rapper or something like that. Give me someone to shoot or a car to drive or something other than crap like that.

I disliked a lot of elements of GTA4, and SA was the first step in that direction. All the stuff about going to the gym, restaurants, getting haircuts etc. just reminded me of The Sims.

Just my personal tastes, of course.
