Anyone here have an AMD based gaming PC?

I have an old ass laptop [i5, sony] with an intel hd 3000 graphics card.

Obviously, I need to upgrade and this is why I am looking at my options.

Must add that the bulk of my gaming will probably still be PS4 based. I need a PC that has good [great not needed] gaming specs.

You looking to get a desktop or laptop? It'll be much easier to narrow down your choices with a desktop than a laptop, since with a laptop there's a limited amount of space, speed and possible ram size in comparison but both can do the job.

Probably desktop. More power, cheaper and I want to connect it to a HD 1080p relatively big ass screen/tv [say 32 inch - which is big for a PC monitor].

Well you can probably start with this:

• AMD FD8350FRHKBOX FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition
• Gigabyte AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gbps USB 3.0 ATX DDR3 1800 AMD Motherboard GA-970A-UD3P
• 8-16 GB RAM
• GeForce GTX 760 Card
• A couple 1 TB HDD's

Don't take this as law though, just a guesstimate.

That would be totally adequate.

For like �1000 you can buy a really dope gaming desktop. But I'm looking at 600/700 as my expenditure limit. So I should be able to snare a good gaming pc for that.

I've been thinking of getting a high end PC myself since I plan on getting Pro Tools & other audio programs that need a lot of ram & fast processors

For the first one, don't you think 660 GTX is a bit outdated? The price difference is not that much from a 760.

Sometimes I think of deferring any purchase for awhile, saving up and buying this beast:



But with bills, university fees, living life and so on I think that would be OTT.

Yeah I understand completely. Do they offer educational discounts in the UK? I know here in America a lot of places like Apple & Microsoft have a link to where you can get an educational discount from them but I'm not sure how the UK does things.
