Colon exposed the back of his head a lot as a form of defense and the ref didn't oblige him in that. It sucks but any boxer who is putting himself in that bad a position hoping to be bailed out is playing with fire because it doesn't take all that much.

If I watch that fight 100 times not knowing the results afterward I would find it hard to believe that was the end result, but that is just a reminder about how badly a dude can get ****ed up in boxing even in a situation that doesn't look that bad.

Sooooo the Ref who was hypersensitive about Amir Khan "pushing" thus costing him the fight(and almost DQing him for it)..... Is now blind when he should of DQed a fighter for blatant fouling( dangerously might I add). This Ref should never ref again just like the ref in the Burton-Augustus fight.

Not surprised by this outcome cuz what state investigation is gonna find a problem with a state ran event, but for sure I feel Joe Cooper is the most responsible party for what happened to Colon. Cooper's job is to protect the fighter & he didn't do that with all the rabbit punches that were allowed & pretty much glossed over. Fight probably should have been declared a NC at some point like the Isiah Thomas vs Murat Gassiev bout.

nobody should ever be allowed to throw any punch to the back of the head. it does'nt score,it very dangerous from a health stand point, and its cowardly. face the front of your opponent like a man.

From what I saw in the fight, some sort of responsibility should be assumed by the refere and the opponent who continually hit behind the head as 1) the ref did not issue enough warnings/point deductions for the opponent's use of rough tactics 2) Williams for not making the proper adjustments. Having said that, I believe Pedro Diaz is an experienced enough trainer that he should've (IMO) known he should've stopped the fight. Also, why didn't his father (part of his team of coaches as well as former head trainer) stop it? Does he not know his own son enough that he didn't feel his son needed to be protected? Coln had just fought in August 1st, September 11th and then this fight took place on October 17th. I understand that for most prospects is common to have a bunch of fights during their first few years but, I feel his whole team failed him by rushing him through the ranks. To me, that's not a good indicator of a team (trainers, managers, advisors) looking after their fighter's best interests. Espero te recuperes pronto Prichard, que Dios te cuide y permita Dios que sea quien sea el responsable de esta tragedia, terminen pagando las consecuencias por esta tan lamentable situacin. Buen dia a todos...

People often mention the injured fighters team as having a part (big or small) in the injury, but I think they are often the most delusional about what a fighter is capable of & can achieve. I mean you need some magical thinking or just positive thinking to make it in a competitive sport like boxing. I'm sure they have seen Prichard overcome obstacles numerous times in boxing to get where he was at. Why not this time was probably where they were at in their thinking. You can't call it a day any time you see a problem come up in boxing & get very far.

And I just think the ref & doctor & state commission need to be the element of reality in boxing. The fighters & their teams gotta be the dreamers who are trying to reach grand goals & the ref, doctors & state officials need to control the chaos & be the most responsible party.

If you want cornermen to make decisions to stop fights upon seeing some adversity you are changing the entire sport to a near amateur boxing level of struggle. Guys like Arturo Gatti woulda been low level journeymen if their corners had stopped fights cuz their primary concern is a fighters short & long term health & the adversity he was facing was big & just not worth it to overcome. And truth be told maybe that should be happening. This is an extremely dangerous sport that could result in severe injury & death when everything goes right so maybe less effort should be put into creating Arturo Gatti-like fighters & Gatti-like fights. Idk. I just can't fault the cormernmen in any way for things like this personally.

Granted the rabbit punched serious effect but the referee was just awful...he never assumed control of the bout ..the corner should have stopped it for lack of judgment on their part...

Now that kid could be in almost a lifelong coma with who-knows-what permanent damage I hope you get out of thecoma and can have some type of a normal life but that's an awful long shot...

                      I expected this

You cant blame just one person, I see punches to the back of the head almost every fight. I dont know who he can sue. You have ring doctors and ringside refs and his own coach. Its just a very unfortunate event and hopefully he can recover
