You’re missing the point of it though. Artists are still out there making music.
You just don’t seek it out.
If someone posted a “Top 40 Country” list, I’d probably have the same response as you.
”Damn. Not a single song I’ve ever heard of.”
And genres change overtime. Think of Disco. It’s basically evolved to house music, EDM. Sh#t like that.
A lot of people like it. And I can’t tell you one thing about it. Does that mean it’s dead?
I don't think anyone is claiming no one makes rock anymore. It's that it's cultural relevance is at an all time low. It's a genre that has run out of ideas. It's just a legacy thing now.
Look at any rock or metal festival lineup and see the headliners, it's all old legacy acts, barely any new talent coming through. Then go and look at the same festival lineups from the 90s and it's all new young bands of that time.
It's about evolution, rock has been evolving since the 50s.
T-Rex evolved into a chicken.
Rocks a part of rap too. A lot of the beats that they rap to, are sampled rock songs.
Same thing as disco. People say that disco died, but it just evolved into EDM or House. One of my friends explained that to me.
House music is literally evolved Disco. So in a sense, disco never died. It just evolved.
Hell even the prayers in the Bible evolved. I remember when I was like, idk, 17 or something when the priest explained that the translations got reworded so prayers literally evolved into something completely different.
REO Speedwagon said it best, you gotta, “Roll With The Changes.”
