    Foreman v Frazier and Norton.

He displayed such a chilling fixity of purpose and sheer brutality that the blood runs cold.

No wonder Ali was expected to be utterly destroyed.

    Two awe-inspiring performances.

No question about it. Rarely do you see fighters of that caliber destroyed in that way. It took a Muhammad Ali to beat that version of Foreman.

      - - Now, now, there you go again.

Ali was a shadow of what he was entering that fight that ended on a controversial stoppage.

His KO% shoots down, his mgr and doc tell him he can't take the immediate $10mil 50/50 split in Indonesia because of permanent physical damage done to him.

Instead he runs to Podunk, Ohio to fight Journeyman Wepner who was KOed by 3 fight Novice Foreman in 3 rds. Wepner furthered the damage done.

Please, don't tell me you were for Ali extending his career to be beat up by Leon, Tubby Lar who was still skinny then, and then Berbick.

      The results were tragic...RIP...

There was nothing controversial about Ali's stoppage of Foreman. Come on now man.

          - - Not to anyone still in their Barney Big Boys who swallow mainstream Boxing Garbage experts.

As I mentioned, I didn't see the fight because I was deep in West Texas then, so while surprised then, I figured it was one of those things and dismissed it.

When I first saw it on Espn with Big George as a guest, I immediately jumped up and shouted Foreman was drugged. I found out much later that George Plimpton shouted out that the fight was fixed, and much later in George's first bio that Sadler had given him a flask of water after drying out for the fight, the first time such a thing occurred.

He got in at least one big swallow if not 2 before spitting the rest out.

Then the 10 count had Foreman on his feet at the 9 sec mark when the 57 year old Clayton waved his arms.

A Brit Boxing expert interviewed Ali after the bout, and he was darkly mottled instead of his joyful self. Moreover without prompting he seemed to be begging the Brit to see he won the fight.

No joy by Ali in Mudville that horrific night as the Heavens minutes later dumped a flood on the fight that chased everyone away to shelter.

Nor did I see Ali/Frazier 1 immediately for the same reason and believed Ali propaganda that he was robbed because I'd seen both early in their careers that clearly favored Ali.

Clearly Joe beat the Tarballs out of Ali when I did see it that made me forever a Joe fan.

You can deny the facts as you chose, but when I was afforded the footage and back stories, Ali did not win the fight had I been Clayton, but thankfully Joe's judges got it right.

You're the only one who thinks any of this to be true. There was no machiavellian plot, no conspiracy and no proof of foul play. Just another crazy conspiracy theory on your part which if kind of funny considering you don't believe there was anything in Aaron Pryors "black" bottle or that Resto was at fault in any way for wearing gloves with the padding removed against Collins.

They were two of the most impressive KO performances in HW history to that date, especially Frazier. Foreman looked as close to unbeatable as you could be.

Sonny Liston looked the same way 10 years prior after he flattened Patterson twice, funnily enough.

He's giving a test pattern again. Better smack his coathanger a couple of times and see if the show comes on
