I see Prime Louis cutting rocky up, hitting him with devastating counters - and then in round 5, Marciano catches him, hurts Louis and finishes him off. Prime Louis would dish it out more but that's gonna be his downfall IMO. I think Marciano is one of the only guys that can beat Louis as well. I think Louis can take Ali. imo
And even using the fight as an example, Louis is 37, one year older than when he fought Charles. He was on a 9-0 win streak, against decent competition. He's most certainly not at his best though and not nearly as Dangerous as his prime - but this won't matter cause he's still gotta take it too, especially if he comes to **** with Rocky, which he would. Louis is never gonna get on his bike and run prime or not.
Let's also not forget Marciano is GREEN. and it shows. Marciano had very little experience in the amateurs, his body of work was almost entirely built in the pro ranks. this is why he looks so much more polished by the time he's fighting Charles or Moore.Last edited by them_apples; 06-25-2025, 01:09 PM.

I see that clearly also. Marciano was good but he might have been an overrated "mafia" fighter who came along at the right time and had the right management. Good small cruiserweight type today but absolutely no chance even against the likes of Chris Byrd, Sam Peter, Tony Thompson, Zelkjo Mavrovic, Dillian Whyte, Ron Lyle, Jimmy Young, Derek Chisora types.

He KO's T.rex as well because the 13 metre, 10-13 ton + rexy had an even shorter reach than Rocky.
A size disadvatage had no fears for the invincible one.

He beat guys by working 4x harder than them in camp for years. He turned himself into a killing machine. he's lighter and stronger than everyone, and therefore he wears everyone out if they decide to stand with him.
He sacrificed his body and mind to become this way (my impression) and this is why he found success in the ring with such little experience.
I do believe against more physical opponents, Marciano would take more damage - but knowing his persona these would probably also be his most devastating knockouts.
So it's not that Louis won't land flush and put Rocky Down, or cut him up - it's what happens after he get's up is what counts. We won't ever know this, all we have to go by is a green Marciano vs a past it Louis. What was missing from Louis that night was his old punching power and speed, his punch resistance however - would fair no better. This is pretty much what Louis said himself passively.
"If he can take the shot he can and hit like he can, he has a shot to beat anyone. I think he is a great champion" something like this, I recreated the quote but it can be dug up by another veteran.
