Jeffries didn’t want any part of Johnson or McVey even when he was young.
Jeffries fought them when he was green...duh!!!

McVey was just a baby then

23 yr 156 lb Sam wanted an immediate rematch with prime 28 yr JJ and actually dressed him down in public over it. Sam also took a full ad in the local paper saying he would never fight Jeffries because he was so formidable.

It's like you never watched boxing but like to prattle on about it for your flagging masculinity

A baby that Jeffries wanted no part of. We already know he declined the offer to fight McVey.

He also wanted no part of Johnson until people began begging him to do it for the White race.

          So do I.

As for the question it's hard to say, I tend to think good but not great.

He fought a developing 23 yr old Langford weighing 156 lbs. He fought developing Jeannette who beat him and developing McVey.

Novice Klon***e Haynes knocked him out.

I'd say he developed his stinker style from these early encounters
What do you know about Klon**** Haynes, outside of what BoxRec can tell you?

              - - He did it when he was offered the biggest purse in boxing history that was prob the summation of his previous sumptuous boxing purses.

What, Baby McVey again for U? JJ and Jeannette were the only 2 legit contenders at heavyweight while he was champ. Not only did JJ lose to Hart in 1905, he lost Jeannette also.

Mcvey was only 20 yrs old then with a 8-3 record and didn't even fight in 1905 when Jeff retired as undefeated best ever hvy champ.

Really, school finally got tired of kicking U down a grade and kick U out permanent now?

Ohhh, I get it. It was all about the money.

Then why did Jeffries take less money to fight Munroe than what he was offered to fight McVey?

                I'll await your answer

By the way, what was Munroe's record when Jeffries fought him

                  - - Proven that McVey didn't fight anyone in 1905, so how is Jeff supposed to fight him? Was McVey sick or injured?

Munroe was easy to make since Munroe fought 6x that year of 1904 including vs JJ in 1905, so when Jeff first fought him, he became the first and only fighter to KO him. Johnson failed in comparison. Munroe finished with an 9-3-2 record with an 89% including wins over longtime contenders/champs Sharkey and Maher.

Jeff's overall career fighting approx 1/3rd of his fights vs fighters of "color" exceeds most every heavy champ in those early days.

In Short, Jeff a much more advanced H0m0 Sapiens than you'll ever be.

He didn't drop him ,he knocked him half way through the ropes, according to Smith,Johnson sparred a further 6 rounds with 3 different sparring partners that afternoon.
The average weight of Johnson's challengers was the highest up until Joe Louis' reign .

If Jeffries had accepted the guarantee he was offered, don't you think McVey would have fought him?
Johnson made Munroe look silly in each round, how is that a failure?
Jeffries steadfastly refused to defend his tile against a black man, this is inarguable.
