Duran fans make almost as many excuses for his losses as Tyson's.

He lost to Ray and Tommy fair and square.

    Also to Laing and Benitez.

I'm big a Duran fan, but I'm not a fan-boi. Duran lost those fights. Was he a bit past-prime and fighting a full weightclass over his prime weight? Sure. He still got knocked out by Hearns; he still quit against Leonard; and he still lost a clear decision to Benitez. It is what it is: People need to cut the tinfoil hat sh it and just admit he wasn't as good at welterweight as those guys.

Ps. Duran was the greatest lightweight of all time, and no one will ever be able to change my mind on that.

Agreed although Benny and especially Pernell would run him very close.

          - - What, 119 fights vs 40 for Ray?

The 3rd time he fought Ray, it looked like Duran was trying collar his woman, but Ray ran faster and wouldn't fight because he was genetically always gonna be a lightweight great.
