They might've sparred each other in training. They were both at the Kronk Gym together, with trainer Emanuel Steward.

Yes, they fought each other as 125 pound kids...they became CLOSE friends later on and Michael LOVES Gerald...a couple years ago in New York we were able to put Michael on the phone with Gerald....Gerald is severely impaired right now but talking to Michael lived him up INSTANTLY.

I have read that Manny Steward had a rule that McClellan, Hearns and Moorer were never to spar together at Kronk. If they did, a gym manager was losing his job pronto.

              A few guesses . .

Anyone dominates the other and the word gets around (the media hears about it) the fighter's stock goes down.

Getting man handled in the gym can have a bad effect on confidence regardless who is doing it, again a fighter walks away with some psy damage.

The three of them would likely never give ground and too much fighting would rise out of the sparing. Gym wars are no good, no money. They're ******. They damage fighters physically.

Surprised that didn't happen with Aaron Pryor and Howard Davis jr.

Moorer would have knocked out Hearns into a coma even with 20 oz gloves on.
                  Grifter steward knew this.

Why do you think? They were all killers. They would have killed each other in gym wars and been useless as fighters. At least one of them would have been carried out of the ring psychologically devastated. Manny wanted his fighters to be in good shape for their fights, not recovering from injuries given to them by his other charges.
