    Henry Armstrong and Joe Frazier

Who do you think fought at a faster pace?

I'm talking about the Smokin' Joe Frazier in the Fight of the Century in 1971.

AND....Are there any other fighters that you feel fought at a faster pace?

    Thank you

Joe mimicked his style after Armstrong.

They both fought at a very similar pace, Joe was just a much bigger version. I also think Joe was able to be more effective with that specific style of fighting.

I don't know if Armstrong EVER fought at a faster pace, but the pace Frazier set against Ali the first time was unreal. Im sure many have come close or matched that pace, but never a heavyweight. Not Marciano, not Holyfield...none of them.

Archie Moore was one of the commentators for the Fight of the Century. And Dan Dunphy stated that he thought Frazier was fighting at a faster pace than any fight ever.Archie Moore said:Yeah, except for Henry Armstrong.

Armstrong was one of my father's favorite fighters, and he always kept telling me how many punches he threw, and how fast a pace he fought at.I have never seen a COMPLETE fight of Henry Armstrong, just highlights of some of his fights. From what I saw he was just about all my father told me about him.

I think I'm going to get some Henry Armstrong fights to watch.Could you tell me some good ones that went pretty many rounds?

I believe the entire fight with Filipino Cerefino Garcia is available on Youtube.

What I've seen of Armstrong has either been on youtube or ESPN classic.

Aaron Pryor set a pretty torrid pace in the first Arguello fight. Not sure if that would be comparable to an Armstrong fight or the Frazier who fought Ali the first time. What amazes me most is that a man over 200lbs could maintain such a pace for 15 rounds. It doesn't get talked about a lot, but surely that's one of boxing's most amazing feats.

Keep up the great posts BB, your knowledge is appreciated.
