Hamed made me embarrassed to be a boxing fan.

I have. Hamed feasted on past-it names and assorted never-weres.

Nothing to do with "hate" especially the way that word is so grossly misused in the internet age and thrown around to describe anyone who does not like or enjoy something. Better to say people did not RESPECT Hamed, or enjoy his style, or appreciate his theatrics.

I just think its pretty clear that he hadnt fought anyone as good as MAB. To end your career on a loss after stepping to your biggest test kinda leads me to believe it eased him out of a gym and into his bar stool.
He didn't end his career on a loss. He won his comeback fight clearly against Manuel Calvo.

He is a ******, he doesn't drink. So the 'bar stool' comment doesn't work.

But I agree that he never fought anyone as good as Barrera.

Actually, Augie did not beat a single pro of any note going into his bout with Hamed. But, he had already been knocked unconscious at that point. His subsequent date with unconsciousness with John Michael Johnson showed that Augie had severe issues with taking a punch.

Hamed had more difficulty with Augie than he should have. That kid would have been a 1st rd. KO victim to Barrera and Morales had he fought them instead of Hamed.

Yea, not an amazing chin on Sanchez. But he did take a few good whacks before being knocked out by Hamed. He deserves credit for his wins over Espinosa and Jimenez too.

Perhaps Moralles or Barrera would have got him out of there in one round. Most would say that Hamed was a harder pound for pound puncher than either. Perhaps the Hamed of 1995-97 would have beaten him in one round too?

That said Sanchez was a good technician with heavy hands and an excellent amateur career. At the time he was seen as a good opponent and he did fight well early on.

Talented fighter but something missing there, certainly wasnt talent and I don't think it was heart. Character?

                Wealth?

Lack of ambition after boxing solid since the age of 7?

Laziness? He hated training and clearly has no interest in keeping trim these days.

You're right, he didn't lack heart when in the ring. Always got off the floor to win, he never quit.

That's the reasons that for me longevity is so important when measuring the best of the best. Hard getting there, harder staying there. Don't know with Naz can't put my finger on it. That defeat seemed to finish him and to paraphrase things like that don't build character they reveal it.

Let's be fair looks like he kept hold of his money has his marbles so good luck to him we all get saddened by seeing broke damaged fighters so pleased he is ok. Only people he owes are his family, not us

If he ever comes back, he could be the first fighter to have ever held the featherweight title and then competed for the heavyweight title. Dude is FAT now!
