You yourself tried to argue that JJohnson ducked Langford when he refused to honor a contract for a whopping $5000. How you come to that conclusion and in the same breath claim Dempsey didn't duck Wills when he refused to honor a contract for $800,000 is beyond belief.
Sounds like yet another double standard from a guy who happens to be a Floyd Mayweather critic.
What you mean is that it's unfortunate that Dempsey wanted absolutely NO PART of Wills. The man broke a contract that was more lucrative than the Tunney fight. So much for "social obstacles" when the public wanted the fight for years, the promoter followed the contract and was game, Wills was game, the money was present, and Dempsey ran away breaking the contract. How do you feel like a man when you have to lie to protect your feelings?

Stop lying on these great fighters' legacies. You should be ashamed of yourself as a hardcore boxing fan.
1. Willard. Yes he was 37 and not in ideal shape, but what a beating
2. Sharkey. A foul aided win over a hall of fame opponent in his prime.
3. Miske ( pre title fight 1918 )
4. Gibbons. The camera man shows how to cut off the ring better than Dempsey did.
5. Fulton ( 18 second KO ) which was filmed
2. Sharkey. A foul aided win over a hall of fame opponent in his prime.
This came up in my youtube feed today.
You are right. A clear foul aided win. And apparently he was behind in the fight at the time...? According to the announcer anyway.
Protect yourself at all times is the name of the game, so it's a fair win. But I'm not sure how anyone could choose this as his best win, and Sharkey was the name mentioned most as his best win by posters here, I thought.
But also, I'm a bit surprised you chose the Willard fight as his best win. Willard hadn't fought in 3 years. I don't know. Dempsey's resume is problematic.

Thanks. Yeah, Sharkey was ahead. Best win and best opponent faced to me are different things. So is most impressive performance.
Dempsey is most famous for beating Willard and its probably his most impressive performance. Best opponent is Tunney.
