armstrong was recently 3 weight champion simultaneously. ambers was a legend himself and lost his title to henry. armstrong is p4p number 1 after defeating possible number 1 in barney ross and then ambers. armstrong was in the middle of his record breaking welterweight reign (absolute peak). ambers was 26 and in his prime too. so 2 legends in their prime fought and p4p number 1 lost. this fight has to be considered to say the least.

    thanks for the story.
Good call, hits all the criteria on the head. Definitely belongs in the conversation

For instance, I would choose Holyfield-Tyson 1 as a good pick. Tyson fanboys will tell you Tyson was just a bum at this point and ignore Holyfield's decline in order to discredit that monumental win though.
That's a good one too and really, both had declined some, so it fits the criteria. Tyson wasn't a bum by any stretch in 1996. And it goes back to your point about Tyson having trouble with guys with good chins that could hit, even though Holyfield wasn't a one punch KO guy. He was still a warrior with no quit who could stop opponents with an accumulation of punishment.

          Ray Leonard over Thomas Hearns

I genuinely believe Leonard is the only man in boxing history who could have beaten prime Hearns at 147, that win shines like a diamond on Ray's record.

              Ali foreman
              La motta srr
              Turpin srr
              Leonard Hagler

I also think mayweather's total shutout over canelo looks better as time goes on
Canelo ggg was a great win

                  - -Not a fair fight with Bayless hanging on Canelo the first half of the fight like a straightjacket, but soft lads always gonna have a soft spot for Floydy Joy.

Micheal Spinks giving up his LH title and moving up to beat the reigning heavyweight champion Larry Holmes. He was the first man to do that.

Ali vs Foreman comes to mind

                      then Duran vs Leonard

they both encompass everything, both elite fighters going at it and one pulls of a rather big upset because hes not supposed to win.

I get it Tyson Douglas and Louis Schmeling 2 are big for different reasons
