Comments Thread For: Hearn Does Not Expect Ukraine-Russia Conflict to Have "Any Bearing" on Usyk-Joshua Rematch

Eddie Hearn's gut feeling tells him that the most significant geopolitical crisis in the world at the moment will not end up having an adverse effect on the upcoming heavyweight title rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua.

It won't have any effect because the fight has not been made. Usyk wanted a fight earliest in June anyway. AJ still does not have a new trainer. So this fight was likely to be like July anyway i can see it being July August

      Yea, you’re on it brother.

Back in autumn when Hearn was talking of an April rematch, I posted on here obsessively to say ‘June earliest’. His calls for AJ fights are always late.

I'd respect Hearn more if he just flat out said he didn't know yet whether this attack will affect things. Of course, some sleezy promoter would tell people even though the man joined his country at war, he'll be back in time to defend those belts my cash cow desperately needs to save both our careers. Real classy, Eddie.

This. And sleaze describes this perfectly. And you nailed it, “without AJ, my business suffers” is what he is really saying

I don’t think this is the appropriate time to discuss their rematch when the Ukraine is under attack by Russia. I don’t think Usyk or Lomachenko are thinking about their next fight. Hearn just needs to STFU for once…

                Yep dollars over common decency.

It might be good for Joshua to have a tune up while he waits for Usyk as he needs to work on his cutting off the ring and applying consistent pressure or it will be the same fight as the first with Usyk.

But how the hell can he say Usyk will start camp in four weeks if he does indeed enlist in the military and is fighting for his life? Hearn should have just said at the moment he cannot really say one or another if this war will impact the rematch or not. Just a ****** statement by him.
