Comments Thread For: Ryan Garcia: Duarte Fight is Going To Prepare Me For The Top at 140

By Thomas Gerbasi - It used to be that when the latest hotshot lost his first fight, he returned with perhaps a little less fanfare, but wasn't normally seen as someone who was damaged goods. Remember, it's one loss. In a fight. Against a fellow professional, and one of the best in the world, no less. But in 2023, the rules have changed, and as Ryan Garcia returns this weekend for his first bout since he saw his 23-0 record turn to 23-1 in April, courtesy of Gervonta Davis, there are questions whether we've seen the 25-year-old's best days.

Garcia is a classic example of how easily people are manipulated by good looks and charm. He works the interview circuit and convinces people he has "obvious potential", when there's little tangible evidence for it.

    Social media poser.

"the convincing" is done in large part by the forum writers who put out this manufactured promo pieces for these type of fighters (and there are lot these days) and bc they keep telling the lies and fake attractions of guys like Ryan and Oscar and now Hoppi people buy into there hype. These stories are nothing but hype for the promo boys so the writers can get a cheap interview or some tix's at fight night. All they want is dummies like myself to comment on the trash they write and they are doing there jobs. But some super dummies read and go as far as to beleive the lies and thinking guys like Rybye is important to boxing. Or Oscar has any class left in him since he left the ring and now Hoppi too................

One thing that concerns me regarding Ryan's future success is that during the Davis fight he mentioned switching off or a lapse in concentration.... How does that happen in the biggest fight of your life against a deadly opponent? What's stopping him switching off against perceived lower opposition and getting clipped in mid range again?

Mainly just females and dudes that act like them excuse that superficial nonsense just bc somebody got money to go with it(which is another superficial matter). Real men/people know how to look past the surface and see another man for what he truly is the moment he faces adversity. Gotta give it to em tho. He knows how to manipulate the masses of sheep into believing he's a "superstar" when he hasn't accomplished anything worth calling him that. DLH was the same, but at least he fought nothing but tough competition throughout his career, won multiple world titles and lived up to the hype behind him mostly. This Garcia kid, the moment things don't go his way, he folds and lashes out like he's a victim. The epitome of most people in society nowadays. Social media is the gift and the curse that just keeps on giving and taking

The only thing that he's a "superstar" in is social media. He's a B-level fighter at best AND he's a quitter. I'll not watch another fight of his.

Well, Duarte is someone that can potentially splatter him all over the canvas. If Ryan hasn't been maturing as an athlete/human being and isn't taking his career seriously, this could be a banana skin.
