Comments Thread For: Richard Torrez Jr. blends unexpected multitudes with his heavy hands

Richard Torrez Jr., who fights Joey Dawejko on Friday in Glendale, Arizona, on the undercard of Jaime Munguia-Erik Bazinyan, checks plenty of the usual boxes of an upwardly mobile U.S. boxing prospect, but he is full of surprises...

He needs like 2 years/15ish fights. he'll get there if he doesn't mess up OUTside the ring.
He just might be the new Great White Hope, with the "adult film star" mustache to boot!

I'd like to see Torrez eventually become a cruiserweight

Torrez looks the part, he acts the part, he says the right things...

After tonight, barring an upset, I'd like to see him take on someone with equal skills, or rather better, to see if he can adjust.

I see certain qualities in his game that makes me genuinely believe he'll be fighting for the title in couple years.

Torrez is fighting 4 times a year which is a very good clip for a heavyweight.
He's actually fighting slightly progressive opponents as he works his way up the ranks.
I want to see him fight someone more accomplished than Dawejko, in his following fight.

I follow you on the 70’s p o r n stach but you lost me on the “great white hope”

There has been dominant white heavyweight champions since the Klitschko brothers

Or are you referring to American heavyweights?

And rich has an outstanding amateur record that I wasn’t aware of

I don’t understand the hate he gets, some poster calls him discount Marciano which is actually pretty funny

I like his boxing style, he lets it all go in the ring
