A lot to unwrap here, first off, an amateur background is great but no guarantee. Luke Cambells won Gold and got beat up in the pros and the best fighter on the planet lost 12 of 70 bouts. Benavidez didn't have much of an amateur career, he was 15 when he was sparing world class fighters. Morrell did well as an amateur and his knockout percentage it's off the charts, nobody wanted to fight him.

    You asked,
"why it still appeared to be a boxing event of great magnitude, was because?" Easy question, obviously both were blatantly ducked by the unified champion multiple times and Morrell isn't even Mexican....and that's why the fight was big and not because of all that other conspiratorial nonsense.

Both Morrell and Benavidez are out to prove they are the best by fighting everyone, win or lose. Writing a 300 word essay to smear and diminish Morrell and Benavidez is absolutely BS .

Take that narrative back to La-cross or tennis or where ever you came from because that dog won't hunt.

Luke Campbell was unfortunate to be fighting in a era, that was super competitive 'All time great fighters such as Vasily Lomachenko were at their absolute peak as Champions. If Luke Campbell was competing in today's 135 pound boxing divisions, in my opinion? He would of been a World Champion. Even still? Losing over the distance vs Vasily Lomachenko at his absolute peak, Jorge Linares, Ryan Garcia in the very latter part of his career, and Yvan Mendy a loss which he avenged. Campbell overall had a solid professional career, as of right now? He is a by far better fighter like David Morrell Junior in the professional ranks. Campbell has fought and beaten better fighters than David Morrell Junior, if we can compare the calibre of fighters each fighter has fought.

Vasily Lomchenko and Jorge Linares in my opinion skill for skill are superior fighters than David Benavidez 'Ryan Garcia even though I don't regard him as a proven World level fighter, people would have to admit? That pound for pound, all of those fighters which I am highlighting who competed against Luke Campbell? Are better fighters by far than David Morrell Junior'.

Note: The main point I was trying to make on this thread was? That David Benavidez vs David Morrell Junior 'Was nothing much more than a domestic level American fight. We only had one truly World level fighter in this match up, David Benavidez. And he was competing against David Morrell Junior, who has achieved nothing much in the professional ranks. Those are the objective facts. Just because Benavidez and Morrell Junior, are American or American based fighters. That does not mean they are the pinnacle of the sport, or even genuine World to Elite level fighters'.

To conclude: David Benavidez vs David Morrell Junior was no 175 pound coronation 'Callum Smith vs Joshua Buatsi is most likely a similar level fight. You have one proven World level fighter in Callum Smith, the former WBA and Lineal Ring Magazine Super Middle Weight Champion vs Joshua Buatsi the current WBO Interim light Heavyweight Champion and a fighter who is still undefeated in the professional ranks. Both Callum Smith and Joshua Buatsi also were higher level Amateur fighters than David Benavdiez and David Morrel Junior. Smith was the Commonwealth Amateur Champion, and Buatsi the Olympic Bronze Medallist in 2016'.

Maybe a good fight to make for David Benavidez would be against the winner of Callum Smith vs Joshua Buatsi etc.

There should have never been a call or a need for rematch in the first place. Bivol has already whupped that ass once and will do it again. It wasn't so much as even being remotely close in order to justify a rematch. The boxing establishment did Dmitry dirty because it's corrupt.

If you beat Bivol that doesn't make you better than Canelo. Styles make fights. What better example than Hearns destroyed Duran, Barkley annihilated Hearns, Duran beats Barkley.Granted Canelo is a coward for refusing to fight Benavidez but boxing is corrupted and never fair. Ask Amanda Serrano...

Smart. This bum loses to both and a trilogy between them only tires em out. Well beterbiev cause of his age but bivol beats em no matter what

It was a one way rematch that was in the contract
Yours truly ; Canelo wanted it and demanded that Bivol not have one

I agree, a good fight to make for David Benavidez would be against the winner of Callum Smith vs Joshua Buatsi. Heck, I wouldn't mind seeing Morrell against the winner of Callum Smith vs Joshua Buatsi
