Comments Thread For: 10 things we learned from The Last Crescendo

The judges preferred the work of Dmitry Bivol this time around, every time Bivol and Artur Beterbiev fight it will be close, Martin Bakole did what he was paid to do, and more

I learned is they don't have ring card girls in Saudi. Are girls allowed to drive or go to school there?

Kabayel isn't getting the attention he deserves, his demolition of Zhang compared to Parker surviving & out gassing the big fella bares no comparison.
I'd like to see Usyk Kabayel next with Dubois Parker rescheduled on the undercard. Both Kabayel & Parker get they're shots & it sets up undesputed nicely for the fall or winter. I think also Usyk has Dubois number.

Actually, for us in Africa and Europe, it was ideal, watching the fights at night.

It's Americans saying they watched in the afternoon until early evening.

I learned that perhaps more is not always better. There were a lot of fights , but for some it didn't match the hype.

I'm surprised Madrimov said he was actually somewhat ill. He did seem to fight more defensively and perhaps negatively than I expected.

Bivol and Beterbiev do what they do. It was another close one and Bivol deserved it. It's good for him he didn't suffer that cut earlier in the fight, or it could've been quite bad. He's a class act though.

I noticed they kept praising it as the best card ever, but those of us with memories can recall the Don King PPVs of the 90s

I liked how fights were coming one after another in quick succession with no BS in between. In fact, I found it somewhat surprising and did not time my usual coffee, sandwich and toilet breaks properly. I was completely unprepared for no interviews, no music shows etc

For me, the real star of the show was Kabayel and he deserves to go up to the front of the queue.

All this Saudi money is giving us lots of good fights. Obviously, profit is not the motive here, because there is none. The motive is propaganda, putting a smiley face on a barbarous, medieval regime. Enjoy the fights, but don't be fooled about what kind of country this is.

Turki is winning because he adjusts his grand vision quickly in response to customer feedback

                  thank Allah for Turki

gone are the days of 3 crappy undercards to accompany a great main event

western fight makers are profit driven and work within a budget

State funded Saudi boxing is purpose over profits

Saudi being the new home of big fights is ironic as boxing is supposed to be haram in the Muhammad

anyways the Muhammad is a warrior faith

Your job is to be a boxing writer - why are you complaining that there are TOO MANY good fights on a card? Makes no sense. First boxing writers complain that there are too many cards with undercards filled with no-names and mismatches - now they complain that when there are too many good fights on a card, it’s hard to appreciate them all (whatever that means). Smh
