Cuban style is great at making both fighters look terrible. Definitely not friendly to fans who like to see serious leather getting traded. If you love hit but don't get hit, it's got plenty of value. I'd rather watch Inoue, Chocolatito, Bam Rodriguez, Lomachenko, etc personally. And it's really nice when they've got the power to stop their opponents. I think the world of Bivol and Usyk, but their lack of power in their current divisions takes a lot of the suspense and excitement out of the fight. Let's not even get into Shakur and Haney...

Although I actually like Rigo. Just wish he was a little more offensively minded. The current Cuban school as represented by guys like Morrell Jr, Andy Cruz, and Osley Iglesias is very fun to watch though.

cuban style would be the perfect style if they are a lil more aggressive.. anyone know why cuban style is so defensive?? like they got the skills, the footwork, the hand speed, why are they so hesitant to throw and exchange? i feel like most of the time they are faster than their opponents and can land and get out before their opponent lands but instead, they choose to fight very defensive. and always moving.

Osleys is a hooker who loves his 2-3

Cuban David strikes straighter and is a 3-2 guy

Cuban style in pro boxing is still a work in progress. They're evolving Cuban style for the pros fighter by fighter

Erislandy is the most successful Cuban in pro boxing so far. He'll bite down on his mouthpiece and thug it out when pushed like Slique Black-American Boxers

Prior gen of Cubans were defensively minded. The pendulum has now swung to major offense Cubans with the current crop. Cuban David sent a past opponent into a coma

After experiencing both ends of the extreme I believe the next gen of Cubans will figure out the optimal blend between offense and defense

To much time in the amateurs when it was strictly scored on punches landed difference, their game was get a lead, then defend it.

Really wish we got to see Rigo fight all the guys in the division instead of everyone ducking him, and him having to go move up 2 divisions to fight peak Loma. Gamboa was always fun to watch though.

i wonder who said this yesterday?
I said that, while watching Brayan Leon on the undercard. When Cuban boxing is good it has a lot going for it.

But when it’s bad it’s horrid.

Why? I praised a Cuban boxer for fighting well and aggressively.

It shows I’m not a mindless hater just looking to crap on Cubans.

That wasn't Cuban style, that was the most bs showing I have ever watched. And canelo is the most limited superstar I have ever watched too.

The Cuban boxing is defense and make you pay when you miss, you have Rigondeaux that takes that defensiveness to another level, but he is dog when pressed, Lara the same, but I have witnessed back in Cuba, in my childhood, wars between most of the greatest fighters the Island has priduce since 1960. Their style is more like DMJ, Iglesias, Tellez, Leon, Herrera, Casamayor, Hurtado, and bunch of them that I don't recall right now, Stevenson was the a very good example of the style, Correa, Rolando Garbey. That label was put on one boxer by a bitter promoter because he derailed the wagon, for the next "Pacquio".
