Relative to those who havent made it in, there are about a dozen or so MLB players in the HOF who probably shouldnt be there. The NFL has a few who mostly got in due to fame or team success as well. But thats the thing, regardless of the specific HOF, there will always be someone who is the least deserving enshrinee- that doesn't mean they don't belong though (though in some cases it could).

So the key is to roughly find that demarcation line of worth and stick with it throughout. This is referring to the lowest level enshrinee, and usually isnt established until at least a decade or so into a HOF's existence (as you have such a high backlog in the early years). That being written, regardless of who this lowest level HOFer is, there will always be people who complain they don't belong- but once again you have to have them there otherwise we get to the SRR dilemma. Hopefully, then you can ensure those who are better than this lowest level get in, and those who are below do not.

Bringing up the age of the IBHOF as if that somehow invalidates it is a poor argument- yes there are other boxing HOFs, but this seems to be the most respected one, so who cares how old it is. All sports should have a HOF, boxings just insnt as old. Moreover, age doesn't preclude a HOF from having these issues. The baseball HOF is nearly a century old- so old that Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, and Walter Johnson were all there in person when it was opened. Yet it has a great number of enshrinees who have been deemed questionable (look how Frankie Frisch got his buddies in). That being written, that HOF is still a great place to visit, and being inducted is a tremendous accomplishment. You could make a similar type argument regarding the basketball HOF, especially once it started inducting players based on international accomplishments (I mean I liked Vlade Divac, but based on ability he is not HOF worthy).

But I guess its like the old Albert Einstein parable of writing math equations on the board, people will judge you for your few mistakes as opposed to your many successes. There are many great fighters in the IBHOF, but instead of recognizing them we want to degrade the HOF as a whole due to the 1 or 2 at the low end.
I enjoyed this post. Perhaps they should stop having annual conventions and instead hold one every 3-4 years. Doing it every year means they feel pressure to induct people.

        - - IBHOF is a $$$ Making enterprise, plain and simple.

Baseball HOF is run by simpletons, yet a much more lucrative enterprise than Boxing HOF...the way it was, is, and forever shall be...

Baseball's process does not require there to be an inductee every year, and some years they don't have one. Maybe they could alter the process to make it more difficult to be elected. Then, if they used the celebration to put more emphasis on the yearly award winners that would lessen any pressure for increased inductees.

Although I really like the idea of it being a big annual celebration (I'm an optimist and partier by nature) so I like the idea of them having the yearly celebration and would love to make it out for that day, though am bummed so many of my favorites have passed on and wouldnt be there.

I agree I wouldn't support Porter in most cases.

I only support Porter because of the era we're in of ducking & A-side/B-side nonsense & PEDs

Porter fought damn near everybody, never cheated the fans, & is just a few decisions/rounds from being a top 5-10 WW of this century.

Lol, no. The IBHOF is a labor of love. The money to support it comes from generous donations from fans who appreciate a tough sport and beleive that honoring the toughest athletes is the right and decent thing to do.
There is no league in this sport.

If you follow either, you'd know.
Joe Namath!!!! The man who brought the NY Jets their only superbowl? The guy who won the MVP and championship all in one year ? His career completion percentage is over 50% for his era that didn't protect the quarterback thats great. Remember he also won a AFL championship before the NFL merger. Guy also won rookie of the year. Nahh fam. Go back on Wikipedia and try again. You sound crazy.

Phil was known for his defense you would have to watch him live to view his legacy. Remember he got in form a veteran committee. Gatti and vinny didn't do half of what phill did.

                    Career highlights and awards 5?All-Star (1942, 1950–1953)
                    7?World Series champion (1941, 1947, 1949–1953)
                    AL MVP

Get out of here with this.
