Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux To Donaire: You Want It? See You in March!

WBO/WBA super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (12-0, 8KOs) has no problem with giving a rematch to Nonito Donaire (32-2, 21KOs). In April, Rigondeaux handed Donaire his first defeat since 2001.

Donaire came back to action on Saturday in Texas, and struggled during his ninth round TKO of Vic Darchinyan. After the match was over, Donaire said that he wanted to avenge the second loss of his career. Rigondeaux will come back on December 7th in Atlantic City against former champion Joseph Agbeko. If Donaire wants a rematch, Rigiondeaux will be ready by March and wants it in Miami, Florida. [Click Here To Read More]

I really want Nonito to take another fight to brush off this style confusion and lack of confidence that he needs to get rid of before fighting Rirundeaux again. He mentioned last night how he was trying a going backwards style but was confused because he felt like going back to his old self... This is just horrible to hear. Your style was very effective just the way it was, you just didn't prepare specifically for Rirundeaux's style. The gameplan was knock Rigo's head off or knock his head off. Also his confidence and game looked very rusty, he needs to shake and straighten all of this out first and then get back in there with Guillermo and focus on his style during training camp.

I don't think donaire has any plans or moving back down to 122 and it will be even harder for him to cut down now that he just made his 126.

Rigo is just a bad style match up for donaire. It's just going to be the same fight with both guys feinting and throwing very punches with rigo winning. Donaire will have his punchers chance of course as he will always have but rigo's defense is too good to be caught by one punch.

The weight differential will be a problem in negotiations. And I don't think Rigondeaux would be okay taking the lesser pay this time around while being the champion and being 1-0 against Donaire. This will be interesting.

Donaire needs to go for the KO early. He needs to have confidence in his chin and power and just go for broke trying to touch Rigo's glass. If he does the same old waiting for one big shot, he would get out pointed again.
