Right...and I'm not even going overboard homey! Just so you know I realized that after I had already posted so I couldn't really do much about it at that point. Hell, I thought I had posted a reply for two different people but like I said I realized it too late.

But the reason why I was stating it like that was because a while Rodriguez and Ward were going back and forth because Rodriguez wanted 1 Mil instead of 800K. This is something that was known so I was not sure how you could have missed it. But chill son...it ain't personal.

Also since Rodriguez was giving Ward a hard time before signing the fight. Saying that he was not getting enough money. Now he is going to get a lot less

With all the sanctioning fees that ward is paying to that useless WBA, the least they can do is enforce their own rules.

Those two posts indicated otherwise but cool...I came straight here after seeing 200k purse on twitter..to discuss it. I'm fine with the 200k and letting it stay there..a 100k a pound is fine..but drawing blood from a stone worries me because if you've been a lover of boxing long enough you know shhh like this starts a trend...after seeing that featherweight kid fight in the philipines and get jerked out of 20,000 (Son went home with $8 in his pocket cuz..$8 for a championship bout!!) I have a real issue with money and boxing especially for guys who aren't huge stars.

Rodriguez originally was going to make 1 Million so I have no clue what the hell you are talking about. 200k is the penalty for not making weight or so we heard that was the agreement they came to. When is the last time Rodriguez will make 200K? Well, he made 600k in his last fight. So, 40k coming out of his pocket? Again, I have no clue what you are talking about.

Anyhow, can someone tell me how the WBA rules apply if the title is no longer in play? That is the part that I don't understand. I just don't understand that.
The fight is a WBA-sanctioned bout. The promoters have paid the sanctioning fees for the fight, and therefore the fight is eligible to affect WBA-specific rankings for the WBA title(s). The fight could have been made without a sanction from the WBA, but Ward would have had to vacate his super title and Rodriguez would probably be moved down the ratings.

This just points to there being too much bureaucracy in boxing, too many cooks in the kitchen creating too many layers of rules.

It should be really simple if a guy comes in over~ and it should be between the men getting in the ring how they iron it out not some set arbitrary fees.

The network paid for the fight, they should have final say. HBO should/would compensate Ward themselves if he's inclined not to fight or wants more. Just my opinion though.

The state commission penalty and WBA penalty completely conflict with each other, how can you penalize a guy 65%?

Oh and the fight will def go on
As far as I know, the WBA sanction is the one that takes precedent. The 20% would apply to fights that aren't sanctioned. There's a lot of behind the scenes talk between sanctioning bodies and commissions, especially to do with judges and referee selection, but that's another story

You got to do the work to get paid, if he doesn't want to do the fight anymore that is on him, which doesn't bother me but there are consequences to that.

That is what sucks about a guy messing up it effects both the guy that screwed the pooch and puts the guy that did everything right in a crappy position.

So are you giving Ed a pass? None of this would be an issue if it wasn't for him in the 1st place. If you're struggling that bad to make weight then hell, don't fight at 168. How Ward gets all the blame is ridiculous.
