Does Pacquiao lose to Mayweather because Mayweather beat Marquez?

Full question: Does Pacquiao lose to Mayweather because Mayweather beat Marquez and Marquez beat Pacquiao?

Basically, do you think Floyd Mayweather would beat Manny Pacquiao because of each fighter's performance against Juan Manuel Marquez, a common opponent?

    Marquez definitively beat Pacquiao.

    But...

    Marquez definitively lost to Mayweather.

So, does Pacquiao lose to Mayweather because of this?

Pacquiao and Marquez are evenly matched, with the slight edge in favor of Marquez.

Whereas Mayweather and Marquez was a mismatch.

In this screenshot of a YouTube comment, a guy uses mathematic logic to rationalize why Pacquiao would lose to Mayweather.

In mathematics, this is known as the

Floyd Mayweather > Juan Manuel Marquez > Manny Pacquiao

    Therefore,

    Floyd Mayweather > Manny Pacquiao

    A > B > C

    Therefore,

    A > C

To me, this reasoning is flatout wrong. Styles make fights, and Pacquiao gives Mayweather all sorts of problems, resulting in a win by decision or a win by TKO. Triangle theories are not true in boxing. If they were, George Foreman would have beaten Muhammad Ali.

IMO each particular match-up is unique. The outcomes are difficult to predict. Too many variables.

Styles make fights. Floyd knows this pretty well Pac is all wrong for him. That is why he asked so many demands and putting so many obstacles.

No people who use that don't have a ****in clue about boxing. styles makes fights. Marquez and Floyd fight nothing a like. Marquez will stand his ground and trade with you. Mayweather mentality is completely different and is defensive minded and will always play it safe and throw when he knows there is no risk of him getting hit. That's why he potshots to score points and be in position to be move, duck or whatever. Marquez throws combinations to do damage while you try to hit him.

Malignaggi had a very good analysis of pac-mayweather then when he was saying pac was juicing.

Floyd beats Manny because Floyd is a stylistic nightmare for Manny, triangle theories are a fallacy.

So, Mayweather is a hit-and-run counter puncher...

Whereas Marquez is a stand-his-ground counter puncher.
