it doesnt matter because its only 1 pound. lets say he beat him at 160lbs then people will say 'oh but sergio was old'. cotto isnt even a proper 154 so fighting the middle weight champ at 159 is not a big deal for me

The 159 wont matter at all. That's why is a silly demand to make. Why make such demand to someone like Sergio who has never weighed 160 lbs before in the weigh in?

I like Cotto, but it's simply pride and trying to push your weight around because you feel you can. Trying to gain some sort of psychological advantage. Better boxing and game plan execution is what matters most. Not that 1 pound.

Makes no sense especially with Martinez being closer to 154 than he is to 168 anyway.

        Martinez TKO9 Cotto.

Now MARTINEZ and DI BELLA are looking ridicolous,if all COTTO's demands are so DIVA and SILLY..WHY DID YOU SIGN TO FIGHT HIM? You chose to fight COTTO at his terms so SHUT UP NOW,take the money, fight at MADISON SQUARE GARDEN on PPV and STFU!!!
That's what makes it a diva move , meaning if you don't agree there's no fight. Martinez had no choice but give in to Cotto's demands otherwise there would be no fight. This applies to all fights where there a clear "A side" , B side has to give in to any Diva demands if they don't want to jeopardize the fight.

If it's "only" 1 pound and it makes no difference then why demand for it?? It MUST serve as an advantage for Cotto otherwise he would have never brought it up. If it's serving as a psychological advantage it's a failure simply because a world class fighter like Sergio is either going to laugh it off or become extra motivated to score a KO. Also, technically it's cheating history because if Cotto wins the title then he didn't actually win at middleweight since the MW limit is 160, not 159.

This isn't even about making weight, because it won't even factor into the outcome, it's how silly the demands where for the fight. You can't expect a man with no leverage to simply walk away from a huge payday choosing pride over a payday. All fighters that act like divas deserve to be called out.

Why would it bother Sergio or his people if Sergio " never" has come in at 160?....I understand all the diva talk but Sergio is sounding like one when it bothers him to do something he always does anyway...

he has more of a chance of beating him at 159 than 160. just 1 more thing sergio has to work on
