All of those fights are realistic. Golovkin vs Kovalev vs Ward vs Chavez Jr, etc.

Hopkins moved up 15lbs from 175 to fight The Ring champion Antonio Tarver, he was underdog and fans predicted he'd get KTFO. GGG doesn't have to do this exactly, he could first move up to 168 then 175. What Hopkins did was stuff of legends, I understand that not too many fighters would move up 15lbs in one go. And Hopkins wasn't even that big to begin with.

GGG would probably not be as big of n underdog as Hopkins was vs Tarver, and fans would probably not predict him getting knocked out like they did with Hopkins vs Tarver (and Hopkins vs Kovalev for that matter).

Only difference is Hopkins was permanently moving up from 160. Making MW had gotten tough on Hopkins and gave his career a resurgence by moving up 15lbs with the help of Mackie Shilstone.

Golovkin is still very comfortable at 160 and said he would move up to fight Chavez, Froch, and Hopkins (at 175) on a temporary basis, giving up a weight advantage so that he would still be a MW after those fights.

The reason Bernard v. Tarver happened was that there were no viable alternatives for Bernard at 160. Bernard was coming off back to back losses t Taylor. What was he going to do at middleweight? A move to 175 made sense for a lot of reasons, including financially.

Conversely, none of the big names at 160 have fought Golovkin. He has a lot of work to do still to clear out the division. And, at this juncture a Kovalev fight wouldn't mean huge money. Let's also not forget that Tarver was 37 years old when that fight was made and never had the murderous power of Kovalev.
