Comments Thread For: Ricky Burns: I"m Not Here To Be an Opponent, I'll Win

Ricky Burns says that beating Omar Figueroa in Texas on Saturday live on Sky Sports and CBS will put him back on the World title trail.

Former two-weight World champion Burns meets the former WBC Lightweight king at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, a mouth-watering clash with mass appeal as the Scotsman tangles with the unbeaten Mexican-American live on CBS in the US as part of the Premier Boxing Champions series.

Burns is looking to return to the top of the boxing tree having lost his WBO Lightweight crown to Terence Crawford and then slipped up against Dejan Zlaticanin as he looked to make waves in the WBC rankings.

I'm not high on either guy. A Burns win wouldn't surprise me at all.

If you've not seen Burns fight recently, he's fallen a long, long way in the last couple of years. I've enever seen the other guy but Burns isn't world, or maybe even European, class anymore

Pretty sure it isn't thought originally that these fights were on the Canelo Kirk undercard then realised they weren't so they ain't on boxnation. I checked Sky Sports since they are Hearn fighters but surprisingly I don't see anything there either

A Burns victory is highly dependant on Figueroas hands giving out on him which unfortunately for Omar and his career seems too be more and more the case.

Ah, i thought that may have been the case but it wasn't mentioned at all in the synopsis. Cheers.
