Comments Thread For: Hearn Not in Favor of Froch vs. Golovkin Clash

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is not in favor of Carl Froch facing WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin, because he feels the Nottingham fighter will not be motivated to face the dangerous puncher.

Froch has not fought since last May's knockout victory against George Groves at Wembley Stadium. He was very motivated to face Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in a Las Vegas pay-per-view encounter. That didn't happen after Chavez was knocked out last month and Froch was recently stripped of his WBA super middleweight title.

But how many people attended Froch's last fight at Wembley Staduim?

How can he get motivated for GGG when GGG has never headlined at Wembley!? I mean do we need to have Carl remind you all?

This is a shocking revelation, in no way predictable whatsoever.

... And precisely why did Eddie Hearn provide this statement?

I find it funny that WBA stripped Froch who defended it against a mandatory in May 2014, but not Ward who hasn't defended against a mandatory ever and when Froch last fought, he hadn't fought in 7 months then and still hasn't fought!

If you can't get motivated to fight somebody who is trying to put their fist through the back of your skull, then you need to go find something else to do

Mendoza is a money grubber. Froch's calling it quits and Ward's about to get busy again with some decent money behind him - easy choice for him to make.

ward beat froch, and is an infinitely better fighter. surely that has no bearing, and we should only be concerned with our carl getting a chance to require rematches against awful fighters who almost knock him out.
