Comments Thread For: Mayweather Sr: Floyd Should Retire Than Fight Easy Foes

Floyd Mayweather Sr., father and trainer for WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., says he would rather have his son retire than take on easy opponents.

Mayweather is scheduled to return on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The two rumored opponents include former champions Amir Khan and Andre Berto.

Floyd Jr. (48-0, 26KOs), 38-years-old, has been going strong for 19-years and it might be the right time to retire, says his father.

why should he get out of the game?

he said easy fights and that involves khan, Bumto, Mayfield and Pacquiao 2, since PAc 1 was DAMN easy

It hasn't been "everyday for 20 years"

Floyd also took on very long periods of inactivity to avoid Pacquiao in his prime for some of that 20 years and he spent some of it in jail for beating up the mother of some of his kids in front of his kids

I thought Sr. said Floyd should fight an easy opponent for his last fight?

You see floyd balloon up to 180+ pounds like every other welterweight?

Maybe its because he trains even between fight camps, you know like a PROFESSIONAL athlete.

Pac turned down 50-50 in 2009, WTF do you want floyd to do? If pac chosed to fight for 40-60 in 2015, then that delay is on him.

Also showing your noobness, when floyd retired in 2007-2008, what weight class again was Pac in? oh yeah superfeather. Pac was fighting barrera when floyd retired, he was not even on the radar.

Floyd should retire after berto if that is who he is fighting in September.

all the welterweights and middle weights That people want to fight floyd all just fought weak comp except porter to get the fight.

So Floyd deserves one gimme fight especially if it on free tv but if he wants to fight a couple of berto type opponents he should retire before hand.

Floyd has done everything there is to do in boxing except lose so him fighting weak comp will do nothing for him but risk losing.... He should just retire.

Not so long back Sr. said that Floyd deserved a couple of easy fights ...none of this makes much sense.I think the only thing to prove at this weight is fight one of the unbeaten young lions and for me at this stage the best choice would have to be Brook , the one that Amir Khan is running like a rat to avoid.
