I've never watched The Fight Game or Lampley. But I think the 2 events you are talking about there happened AFTER Loeffler had already turned down the offer from Ward, correct?
Roc were in the middle of negotiating Ward's new HBO deal when they sent Loeffler that offer. Do you seriously think that HBO wouldn't have known about it?
Ward moved to 175, because it was PLAINLY OBVIOUS that Golovkin would never fight him.
that is not reason for hbo to tell him that he cannot have a contract for 168..thats is wat they are saying hbo did...
he was forced to move to 175...fightin once at 172 doesnt mean he has to move up...i really dont care either way im not his fan, but it is sorta messed up that the politics are forcing him to leave a division that now has a new champs and 1 is a gold medalist and another is a former Olympian and my current fighter of the year

No, this was like 2 years ago. Right before canelo came back. Hope someone has the video.
I understand HBO found a gem in ggg- great ratings at a low cost. I understand why they are protecting him from Ward. I think the low ppv sales show fans want to see him tested or matched tough when he isn't getting the fight he wants.
It's okay though, Ward will fight Kovalev instead (...in 2025, what's the rush?)
Even Ward's supposed last-minute offer to GG was not meant to happen at an early date. Meaning, Ward still has to take time and decide when to schedule their fight at his own convenience. No wonder Sanchez doesn't take him seriously, calls Ward a liar and an indecisive person.

but cool story ^^
Apart from the "never" that's the point I was making to Larry.
HBO were ok with Ward and Golovkin fighting each other. They just just wanted Ward to commit to facing a worthwhile opponent after they screened his next 2 tune-ups.
Golovkin fit the bill, but HBO turned to Kovalev instead when it became clear that GGG was staying at 160 for at least another year.
So there was no conspiracy to protect Golovkin or to force Ward to fight Kovalev.
