Andre Ward, All Wrong for Boxing

Just read this article by Listen from Boxing News 24

"Andre Ward, American boxer, with a current record of (28-0) is all wrong for boxing. Ward the last American gold medalist has yet to garner the respect from the boxing public. Most casual fans of boxing in the state of California let alone the world wouldn’t notice the current P4P ranked #4 rated boxing champion if he happened to pass by. Most hardcore fans of the sweet science would more than likely heckle Ward for his constant inactivity and perceived prima donna perception if given the chance..."

Too inactive and not very popular?

All of this might be true, but on this very page there is a thread about Ward vs the ever popular g string. Guess what, Ward is favored to win by a 2-1 margin

      Mikey Garcia's inactivity, Gamboa's, not a peep.

I was a fan of Ward when he won the super 6.
Since then he's done nothing but sued (unsuccessfully) his promoter,
fought 1 good opponent and 2 stiffs, and has done more complaining than a fighter of his caliber should be doing.

I'm not surprised most hardcore fans would rather heckle him than sit and watch one of his fights.

Ward is a coward bottom line, he is raised off that African American Handout Generation. He expects everything to be easy and that his path should be paved for him already. If it wasnt for the super six who Dan Goosen Forced Ward into he wouldent have accomplished nothing in this sport. When left to make decisions on his own he has chose to duck Bute, Refuse to figth Dirrell, Has shown no willingness or eagerness to even fight contenders in his own weight division only wants to fight bums and even then he cant be bothered to stay active more than a fight every few year years.

He just needs to fight again period. He's a once in a lifetime talent, no one can deny this, but right now man, he's being too careful, but once he gets it going again I hope he makes it up for his lost prime years because of inactivity.

I think people are just concerned that, that level of talent is just being put to dust by constant inactivity, and somehow it's a waste because he could have been the real cash cow now perhaps since floyd is gone now and he's talent is really up there with ATGs. Imagine if ward have fought since his inactivity and demolished everyone put in his face: ggg, kovalev, froch and whoever it may be that is offered to him in the past. Whoa suddenly I don't think ward will be as irrelevant as he is today. Ward could have been the real cash cow now, and command a-side respect and conditions that past cash cows had the privileged then. But guess what he still could do it, there is still time, he just needs to take a little bit or risk and it's perfect time now, since cash cow crown is up for grabs once manny finally retires, he could still snatch it. Just take the risk.

                Sad but true.

However it's not like it has to stay that way. If Ward beats Kovalev this year he'll be P4P #1. The last three years have been a disaster but he can turn it around in 2016 with one fight.

Andre should have just signed up with Al Haymon. Haymon would get him the fights he wants without getting blamed for it.

Yes a respectable, well spoken, intelligent, and polite ambassador for the sport is "all wrong". What a crock of ****.
