Comments Thread For: Roach Would Demand Rehydration Clause For Pacquiao-Canelo

Freddie Roach, who trains former eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs), would demand a rehydration clause for a potential fight with WBC middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (46-1-1, 32KOs).

I would as well. If Canelo wants to fight welterweights, there has to be some compromise

it would be hilarious to see a drained canelo get beaten up by a small welter because he was too chicken**** to fight someone his own size

Juan Manuel Marquez originally demanded that Tim Bradley have a hydration clause, Marqueaz refused to use VADA testing and said only way he would do testing is if BRadley didnt put on more than ten pounds on fight night.

Why is Roach even entertaining this fight? Roach is a money grubbing fool, he wants Pac to continue fighting so he can make money for him, he knows that Canelo fight is going to be huge.

I dont blame him either, Canelo has options he can either fight Pac and have a hydration clause or move up and fight GGG at 160.

I think he might take the Pac fight.

If Canelo wants to fight welterweights he should drop to welterweight , these catch weights are just a game, a joke.

Canelo feels safe to shout that he's the middleweight champion but wants middleweights to drop to nearly light middle in order to fight him or as with the case with ole glass jaw move up to 155 from welter to fight him....what a joke.

Manny should retire as a man who can still make 140lbs at 37 years of age has no place in the ring with a young fit talented be it flat footed young fighter who naturally rolls in to the ring at 175lbs and rehydration could inflict health problems for this big guy or indeed for the guy that rolls in at around 144lbs ! A 31lbs natural fighting weight difference,
If your looking to keep it real and safe that is not the way.

It's HBO's show, not Roach's. HBO would obviously want to cash Pacquiao out and build Canelo up for another big mega fight vs GGG in 2017. Roach the fool is thinking with his heart, he should know better that that's not how the world works.
