Things like this is why GGG is becoming disliked by many people. His team, Abel in particular, keep running their mouths and I'm having a hard time believing all of it. It's hard to distinguish GGG from his team, because GGG hasn't made them put a lid on it. I get the promotional side of it, but geez... Not only does it not matter, but they not trying to move up to fight Kov right now to prove that a knockdown in SPARRING matters. *in my Allen Iverson voice* We talkin' bout practice?!?!?

Didn't JDJ confirm this? Didn't Kovalev himself hint that GGG got the better of him and that he's happy he isn't in his division? Why deny now when GGG's camp have been making this claim for years.

moving in weight and kissing the biggest fight in boxing [canelo at middleweight] goodbye. his handlers are "afraid" of that.
they also realize that he'd get handled by ward and kovalev.

The obsession with this one moment is weird. Boxingscene seems obsessed with regurgitating it over and over.
BTW, Golovkin himself got dropped in sparring by a bodyshot by some guy no-one really knows. Meaning, it doesn't mean that much in the grand scheme of things.

Originally posted by ИATASHe's admitted it numerous times. In addition to that, Kovalev and Sanchez/Golovkin have different sparring philosophies. Kovalev said because of the way Golovkin trains, the way he goes hard in training, in order for Kovalev to properly spar him, he would have to go hard too, meaning it would be a fierce fight. He said why do that unless they get paid? Why both hurt each other unless it's for money. So that is the difference. Golovkin went hard, Kovalev wasn't going hard. That's all it is really. Abel never liked that about Kovalev and I don't think Kovalev liked that about Abel. Just a difference in training philosophies.
