Then Floyd was considered p4p #1 cause he was the top money maker, I don't remember anyone having him on that list in his prime.

Also Some people put ggg on top that list just solely on his ko streak now he's not number 1 on it anymore cause it ended. So It just contradicts itself all over the place i think it's just a list for people's favorite fighters.
lol.Floyd was on the p4p list since 1998 man

If they would beat Floyd or Manny, then yes of course they are better. If a man and a woman play chess and the man wins, is the woman the better player because she's a woman? Even though she lost? If a 250 pound man and a 150 pound man race, and the 150 pound man wins the race, is the 250 pound man actually faster even though he was really slower?

The argument you're making here is completely illogical.

That is just plain ridiculous. We have weight classes for a reason.
We have weight classes so we can make money from more world champions. We have weight classes so we can make money from the 1,783rd best boxer in the world. But it doesn't change who is the better fighter. The better fighter is the fighter that would win.

If you started a basketball league for people shorter than 5' 6", would you claim they're actually the best basketball players even though they would lose to the taller players?

In your tennis example, of course Serena Williams, the best female tennis player would get dusted by the 200th ranked male tennis player who is probably a Part-Time truck driver. That doesn't mean that dude is a "better" tennis player than her.
Yes it does. He's better at playing tennis. He would win in a tennis match. The person who is better at playing tennis is the better tennis player. This is common sense.

We have divisions for a reason. #4# is "the best Boxer for his particular weight class".
Yes, we have divisions for a reason. Money. A marketing gimmick to trick people into caring about who is the "world champion" of being terrible at boxing.

If they make him number one or Kovalev if he wins a rematch, I'll do this thread all over again of give it a bump. That's my promise. And I'll keep it.

And please, use the brain, Gonzalez never was the number one.
There is no title - it's a myth. What's a "P4P #1" going to do - wrap someones internet opinion around his waist? Hell, he might have to wrap the bloke who has that opinion around his waist.

P4P is a subjective conversation to have between willing participants - nothing more. It's not a title, it's not a real thing - it's a viewpoint.

You'd think, in an era where there are paper titles everywhere, and everyone wants the dilution to stop (except for the Orgs involved), that we'd find a way to NOT encourage meaningless, non-tangible awards.

All that aside, we're talking about a title that can't be won inside the ring unless circumstances happen to pan out. RG got it because Mayweather retired. Ward won it because RG lost. How do you even claim a victory in that?

It's all BS and can never be proven. It's as bad as mythical match-ups. You can talk about them from now but no one will ever know. It's useless.
You just exposed yourself.... The tears are real bwahahaha

If it was a fighter you loved this thread wouldn't exist

Notice that it's Golovkin fans wanting this.

Your boy isn't good enough to be P4P, deal with it.

So well said, sir. Aren't there enough titles?

Golovkin fans are the biggest bunch of crybabies of any group of fans in any sport. This thread is pathetic, the weight excuses are pathetic, the hyping of B and C level fighters is pathetic. Flip flopping, hypocritical crybabies.
