It's not impossible of course -- McGregor has something special when you combine his elements of confidence, precision, timing, being a very fast starter, and having a strong left hand. He seems simplistic compared to elite level boxing, but he's still got enough to pull off a shock with a good deal of luck (both good for him and horrible for Floyd). I feel it would take an unprecedented mistake on Floyd's part to lose.

For what it's worth I see this fight going 2 ways, both with Floyd dominating.

First and most likely is if the McGregor of the Paulie and van Heerden leaks shows up, then Floyd will stop him any time he wants to, starting in R1. It will be one-way traffic and very entertaining a la Corrales or Gatti 2.

Second--and I can't shake this despite McGregor's lack of experience and skill and because of how impressive he's been in the UFC--is that at some point in the first two rounds, while purposefully doing some MMA angling, he sneaks in a left and either hurts or drops Floyd. I still see Floyd going on to dominate and stop him, but I definitely see a possibility like this despite the gulf in ability. However I think the idea of McGregor by KO is untenable, barring a massive mistake from Floyd.

I think McGregor will gas and will be stopped.

Also, as strange as it sounds, I feel that people are underestimating a 49-0 legend. Floyd is 40 and may be defensive-first now, but back in the day he stopped 24 of his first 35 bouts, and deep down is lethal like an executioner. These days he finds other ways to execute--earning money, and that incredible low % hit rate on him--but the original kill is still there if you ask me.

Every fighter who steps into the ring has a puncher's chance. Conor is no different. He's a great athlete but I think Floyd has fought guys who had way better puncher's chances because they had boxing skills that gave them a greater potential to set up and land a big punch.

McGregor didn't even bring in real boxing trainers to prepare for this fight. He just keeps talking about Bruce Lee ish.

conors punches seem sharper than guerrero and bertos to me... He hits harder than them also... He might not be as fast as berto but he still has skills... He also has a 2 inch reach advantage on floyd from the south paw stance.... Add floyds age and 2 year layoff... This is probably the best chance anyone has at beating floyd ever...

How do you know? Nobody has ever seen McGregor throw a single punch in a professional boxing match because, well, he's never thrown a single punch in a professional boxing match!

You're trying to make inferences when you have no relevant evidence. MMA is not boxing.

If I earned a thousand dollars for every time I heard that before a Mayweather fight...I might be as rich as Floyd.

The fight night weight difference between Hatton and McGregor will be about 3 weight classes, assuming Hatton was around 153-154lbs vs Floyd which would be consistent to his other fight night weights.

I expect 12 rounds of feinting, shoulder rolling, pullcounters, jab to the bodies, occasional rights and lead left hooks from Floyd but ultimately we will see the same highly defensive Floyd we saw vs overmatched opponents he should've stopped like Marquez, Berto and Guerrero rather than a version of Floyd from a decade ago vs a 140 pound fighter at 147. McGregor has fought as high as 170lbs and is a 155lb fighter. I'm shocked that anyone would think a small, brittle hands, 40 year old version of Floyd can KO anyone even if it's an MMA fighter.

With MMA gloves. Boxing gloves are bigger and wind resistance alone causes shots to miss or land odd. Conor will be slapping without pronating his punches. They sent Paulie to teach Conor the Alphas and Omegas and what does he do? He thottles the teacher. He'll pay for that.

The over/under for # of shots landed by McGregor is 30. That's for the whole fight.

No one knows McGregor's boxing style. We know he is normally aggressive. We know Floyd is most likely the best counter-puncher ever seen in a boxing ring. Will McGregor jump in recklessly and get ko'd like Hatton? Or will he get hit and fear for his safety, clamming up and giving away the fight like Pac? Or will he try and outbox Floyd and receive a lesson like Canelo? Or will he just give up like Ortiz? Or will he land the biggest upset in history?

Those who see this as a mis-match and can't understand why people are going to pay $100 to watch it, haven't paid attention to the media the last decade. They said Floyd was scared of Hatton and ducking him. They said he was ducking Mosley and was scared and would lose if he fought him. They said Canelo was a beast in a young prime and ready to dethrone Floyd. And most telling, the media told everyone for 7 or 8 years that someone with considerable disadvantages in reach and height, who lunged in with his shots, who had not had a ko in 7 years, and had not beat any top WW at the WW limit, was this dream match-up, the media said this midget with no power would beat Floyd FOR SEVEN YEARS STRAIGHT.

Tonight's fight is a mismatch. Fans don't believe it, because "boxing experts and fans" did not pay attention to anything they had seen in the ring and just sold this story as Pac as some killer. Most of those crying about tonight helped feed the hysteria for Pac. Pac had even less of a chance against Floyd. He had absolutely no power, no defensive skills, and was considerably smaller than Floyd. McGregor has at least some power, and is the bigger man. However, he has little to no boxing skill at all. Its like the boy who cried wolf. They said Pac was a beast and then people saw he was too scared to even throw a punch. Now when the same people say McGregor has no chance, casual fans don't believe them because ******s lied to them over and over and over again.

Tonight is a mismatch and a joke. And Floyd is guaranteed $100 million because of all the haters who lied repeatedly about Floyd and his opponents. Suck it up and enjoy all the attention boxing is getting.

I'm not a hater, I like Floyd. I'm just short about eighty dollars. I know Floyd is going to win, just how bad he beats Mac is the question. If Mac tries anything new, like jabbing, or going to the body, he's eating a straight right. If he follows Floyd around, he's getting hooked. This is too far advanced to try to learn on the job.

just from those short sparring clips he looks like a sharper puncher than guerrero or berto every were.... His punches are a lot straighter than them also..
