for sure bruh.. he seems to have put more muscle since the Chavez fight & I think it is the the added muscle that tires him faster, not that he had a great stamina before..

But I suspect his biggest problem is draining to make weight. That will kill your stamina every time. He walks around at 175 or even 180+.
It's crazy because I know most distance runners (like myself) HATE sprinting & most sprinters hate distance. Goes to show how much it takes to be a complete boxer.

But yeah u could be right, Canelo playing the scale probably zaps his energy quick. Right now he's young so he can do it but if he don't pick his opponents properly, his career will be short.

he looked like he had needle marks in his abs, he may already be on the help as it is. Dude just has too much muscle for his size, it makes him strong and he explodes with offensive bursts and then he feels the toll of that offense.

I rewatched the fight yesterday. Canelo was dropping his arms like he just did his last set on the curl bar. Those middle rds Canelo had to choose either offense or defense and at that point defense was the easier of the 2.

Have several sparring sessions of a new guy coming in for every round 15 rounds straight. For a few months before the fight. That would fix it i think

I think running and/or swimming for long distances would help him. He'd probably shed a little muscle doing that also.

Has anyone else noticed when he's shown training he is typically running sprints???

I know sprints/intervals have been said to be advantageous but I personally don't think it's a substitute for long distance running in the sense of stamina. I think you begin to want that rest or slow down mentally. Obviously I don't know Canelos whole regimen but he seems to rely on sprints. Bodybuilding wise HIIT training is highly utilized but for a boxing fight I think it leads to stamina problems both mentally/physically. Just my opinion though from my own experience. I can do intervals all day. But running for distance or time I hate. Kinda hate running in general thats why I prefer intervals. Lol

At his age the twice a year fights with all that rest in between does him no service. Yeah he went right back to camp after chavez and bulked up but that also served him no use.

Sprints actually work better than distance in some cases. A lot people can go long distance but they only do it at a pace that don't tax their cardio enough. Sprinting will get your hear rate to where it needs to be fast and because you're going at about 90% you don't need to do it for long periods.

Canelo won't necessary fix his stamina issues but if he incorporate more high intensity cardio workouts it might get his body used to being in that state where he won't need to take those breaks.

I think it's mental with Canelo. He feels tired so decides to conserve his energy by taking breaks. It works for him to a certain extent. However, in some fights he'll need to fight for longer periods per round.

Just get him to jab more and stop throwing every punch with the intentions to kill. Could throw more jabs and straight rights and hooks that are just fast, but not loaded up.
