DAZN to introduce ads to their ad free platform lol

Can't make up these headlines. EVERYONE in boxing was lying to me yesterday & is telling me the truth today.

DAZN, the ad-free sports-streaming service led by former ESPN President John Skipper, aims to score digital rights to major U.S. sports in the coming years and to introduce ad models much sooner to help pay for it.

What are they going to fill the 2+ hourse of gap time in NFL game if they managed to get the rights? May as well throw a commercial break in there

I assumed a Dave Allen interview.

But fair play, but don't call it a ad free platform is my issue I guess.

Yeah I don't know how they going to make people pay monthly subscription and have advertising for Tide and ****

ESPN has the better model so unless DAZN trying to create another cable network on top of online streaming don't see people buying it

I read the whole article a few days ago.

Apparently the ads won't be traditional commercials. More like in-match product placement.

So in Canada, commercial breaks are usually filled with videos and info on DAZN's upcoming schedule.

During halftime they switch to NFL Redzone.

An ad is an ad is an ad.

If its a straight up Taco Bell ad or they do the Dave Allen interview in a Taco Bell with hanging shots on the food choices its all the same thing. A subscription service with a ad free angle to it shouldn't have ads period regardless of the format of said ads.

I didn't even imagine that such a business would survive without ads... it would have been impossible...

They've done it before. I mean look no further than HBO & Showtime which are the ATG's of premium channels w/o ads.

Fair play on them showing ads I just think its pretty silly to advertise yourself as a ad free platform & then show ads. Wtf kinda ****** sh^t is that?

Sounds to me like they've pivoted already. Maybe they are trying to re-fill their bank account or maybe they aren't seeing the numbers go up fast enough, but this doesn't seem like it was part of their plan A to me.

I do see they are showing the f#ck outta that Buffer/Canelo ad at the Vegas Sportsbooks whenever I pass them lately. So that musta cost them a nice chunk of change to.
