Let's try not to focus on a whole group of people (***s), either, because of Arum's ass. It's the same narrow mindedness we are opposing here. As fans of boxing, boxing should be our priority, not politics.

I think it is just bemusing to see comments like this from ***ish people all the time. Once you start seeing the pattern of them trying to claim/deny being part of a certain group depending on if it is beneficial, it gets nauseating.

if a fighter emerges from an area where none have before, his/her supporters will stand and roar. it's part of the game, to root for your tribe. it's the human condition.

this pride overlaps with the propaganda that elites have fed both blacks, whites and latinos for years - to go against each other and not the machine spawning what's coming from the tv.

I've seen boxing in primitive societies as well (3rd world countries) and it's more about control, unfortunately. They don't want their people to defect or turn pro, they keep their top amateurs there and try to weather them down. Yeah, 3rd world boxing...100 people sparring on 100'x100' concrete at once with two coaches looking, is 3rd world boxing.
