Comments Thread For: Parker Explains Why He Beat Andy Ruiz and Joshua Did Not

Joseph Parker is the only man to defeat Andy Ruiz, who currently holds the WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight titles. Parker won a razor close twelve round decision over Ruiz for the vacant WBO world title in December 2017. But then a few months later, Parker lost his title and a twelve round decision to Anthony Joshua. Parker is still the only boxer to go the full twelve rounds with Joshua.

    Parker outboxed Ruiz.

    Joshua couldn't...

    ...pretty much sums it up.

Ruiz beat both imo, but Parker was able to put distance between himself and Ruiz (basically what Parker said in the article).

Joshua needs to do the same in the rematch, Ruiz has slow feet.

Parker was/is a lot more fluid than the robotic AJ, watching that fight I saw Parker moving, then stopping to plant his feet, then moving. He fought on the back foot, then on the front foot. Even though that fight was close and could have gone either way or a draw, Parker really did give a good account of himself. I have said this from the beginning, when you have a robotic/mummy stance e.g AJ or Joe Joyce then your stance would catch up with you in the long run especially at HW.

If you watch the fight again, in actual fact A.J's footwork was pretty good up until he started getting starched. He has the ability to show good lateral movement either way.
It was the rest of his repertoire that was off.

It's true what they say about this site. It's just a PBC/Wilder groupie site with zero objectivity with the exception of a few.

Who is "they?" Whoever they are they're full of crap, there are no shortage of Joshua / DAZN cheerleaders ****ting up the forums as well, in fact they're by and large the more infamous users than the Wilder goons.

This. Had Ruiz fought in California the Mexican American wouldve already been WBO champ

Parker Ruiz was a razor thin decision. Parker did have a totally different game plan than Joshua, he didn’t seem to want to stay in and trade, where Joshua was starched bc he stayed in too long. Basically what he said
