Kovalev removed from plane for allegedly harassing female passenger

Organization light heavyweight titleholder and one of the sport’s most prominent figures, was removed from a flight on July 15 after a female passenger accused him of grabbing her hand and kissing her, throwing cash at her and making her feel unsafe.

Kovalev was aboard a flight departing Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport bound for Los Angeles International Airport. Before the plane took off, Kovalev’s alleged actions toward the woman, who was seated next to him, resulted in her crying, and she alerted airline personnel that she felt “uncomfortable and not safe,” according to a report viewed by*The Athletic,*which was generated at the airport.

The captain subsequently had Kovalev removed from the plane.

The Broward Country Sheriff’s Office received a disturbance call from the airport at around 7:20 pm ET on July 15, and officers arrived at the gate a few minutes later, according to a Broward County incident summary report. The 6-foot Kovalev, 36, is not listed by name in the summary but it describes a “mid-30s, tall RussianWM.” (WM is an abbreviation for “white male.”) The report claims that the tall Russian, after being removed from the flight for “improper behavior,” engaged in a “heated argument” with a male passenger, and then several others present got involved in the verbal dispute.

No arrests were made and there is no pending investigation, according to a Broward Country Sheriff’s Department spokesperson. Kovalev was rebooked on a flight later that night, according to the reports.

Kovalev declined to comment on the allegations via his promoter, Main Events CEO Kathy Duva.

The report generated at the airport lists Kovalev as “Sergei” Kovalev, his legal name, rather than “Sergey” Kovalev, his professional name. On the day of the alleged incident, Kovalev posted an old photo (captioned as having been taken in 1997) on his verified Instagram account and marked the photo Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

July 15? That's about the time Diva-nelo got serious about fighting Kovalev!
Seriously, the Russian is a 36 year old drunk, no wonder Alvarez wants to fight him.
